Prisoner’s dilemma about outcomes vs knowledge?

A death row prisoner is told he’ll be executed on a day he won’t expect.

He reasons it out and logically eliminates every possible day. Concludes it can’t happen, then is surprised anyway.

What’s your observation here: is logic broken or is it revers Schrödinger’s death sentence which only happens if you aren’t looking?

Another perspective is that, if he successfully predicts the day, the statement about it being a surprise becomes false. If the statement is true, his prediction must fail. It’s a loop(?!) sounds similar to “this statement is false”
