I’ve been trying to grow my hair out recently, my stylist is helping me achieve a specific stacked haircut look. I really wanna focus on getting my hair past my shoulders. (I’m anemic and I’m trying to take that more seriously, and hoping that it will also help improve my hair journey)
I am going to Europe for work in June and I don’t want to have to worry about my hair so i casually mentioned to my stylist that I was going to get box braids (first time sine Jan. 2025), and she was very much against it because she says that it is really damaging/will break my hair off.
Over the past few years I’d gotten them a few times for other work trips (but I’ve stop doing that as of late because I did hear it was bad for hair breakage especially if you are anemic). This is the first time I’ve had to travel internationally for work and it is for longer than usual so I’m concerned. I don’t think I can make my twist out last that long. She mentioned something about mermaid braids. I didn’t know what it was but I really don’t wanna have to try to maintain a brand new style I’ve never had before while overseas (and wanting to look nice for work). I’m low-key thinking about just going ahead and doing the box braids anyway, just for this one time. Should I?
EDIT: realized I was confusing anemic with iron deficiency. I’m iron deficient and low vitamin D
