this is actually a very uncomfortable situation for me to be in. i won the housing lottery 3 years ago originally with my ex. he moved out, my building took him off the lease and left me on it to have the unit to myself. then told me i am able to have someone live with me to help pay rent since i already got approved to live here. i’ve had a tenant rent out the extra room and bathroom in my apartment for 6 months so far. there is so much tension, written threats and way too much back and forth via text as in hours of long paragraphs being sent on the daily. she’s RUDE, she’s hostile, and odd and at this point it drastically alters my health physically and mentally. on april 23rd i told her this officially isnt working and we should end this agreement as she stated that she feels uneasy in my home (the same feeling i feel. so why would you even still want to live here if the feeling is mutual?)

i gave her until june 1st to evacuate the premises as the document she signed by me when she moved in said id only have to give 4 weeks (it’s a month by month sublease). i decided to give her 6 weeks. at this point i know she isn’t moving out june 1st and i also know id have to send a legal document stating that she has 30 days to evacuate the room which i am working on doing asap after speaking to a lawyer briefly. before speaking to the lawyer briefly, i even offered to give her until september 1st bc i understand it can be tricky to find a room but shes implying even that isnt a feasible enough time to find a room and it “took her a year to even find my space” lol. im familiar with subleasing and you can find a room on sites in 2 days if you really wanted to as i use to be in the same boat.

i have no reason to keep her security deposit or anything of the such as i will be returning that when she moves out. she doesn’t update me on if she has any leads and as i asked her if she did, she said im stressing her out and she will let me know when. i understand, but i asked if she had any leads bc i was willing to give her an extended time if needed but she is extremely incompetent and refuses to communicate anything which makes me feel like she could be planning on doing anything. it doesn’t even feel as if shes urgently looking as she says living with me makes her feel uneasy. i also offered to give her security deposit back early if she found a lead so she can use it towards that security deposit but she told me that wouldn’t even help. and continued to go on and try to label me as a bad person as im trying to make this as easy as it could possibly be, because at the end of the day i need her out for my mental health but she isn’t getting that. it feels as if she thinks it’s deeper than that but it isn’t. i’m willing to help make this easy bc i just want my sanity back and nothing is worth chaos to me.

at this point i just want to know if this is worth getting a lawyer and if there are any resources i could use. this situation is very traumatizing and i have no plans of letting anyone else in my space after this. it’s not worth it, as i cherish my apartment and view it as my safe haven.
