My manager and I had a meeting and talked about reducing hours, which days I was available for and what shifts were available. I was agreeable but thought there was going to be more conversation involved but they reduced my hours after that meeting cause the process is having a conversation with the manager and then they change it. However during the meeting the manager never said how many hours I would be reduced to and when it would be effective from, only about what shifts were available. This breaks a clause in my works EBA because an employer needs to provide information about the proposed change before they go ahead with it but they didn’t fully and reduced my hours heavily. I’m a bit confused too because I’ve always had to sign a contract or at least give electronic consent.

I emailed them directly about it and we were just going back and forth with no compromise or solution in sight so they pulled me in for a meeting where they basically just reiterated what happened in our previous meeting and that I could still pick up shifts. I then spoke to someone higher up and they basically asked what I wanted and I said my original contracted hours back because there wasn’t proper information provided or consultation. They said they’d talk with the manager and see what they could do and what shifts were available. So they haven’t promised anything but I’m wondering if they come back and don’t increase my hours, could I go to fair work about it and what could they do?

Edit:

To add more context because I wrote this really quickly, prior to all of this happening, I was in a different department and I was on sick leave last minute for a couple of months. This meeting was because of those absences and me wanting to move back to my original department. I thought we were just having a conversation about my absences and reducing my hours because of that and the fact that my department was reliant on me so moving me to somewhere that wasn’t, which was where I originally started. I signed on for a permanent part time contract and was working it for a year and a bit before this but worked there on and off for about 10-15 years.
