Hey, everyone. Just curious about something.
I kept some cherry tomatoes in an airtight glass Pyrex with a paper towel. I keep this container in the refrigerator. I don’t remember when I bought these tomatoes or the last time I opened the container, but there’s no mold on them and they’re only slightly uniformly squishier than when I first bought them. They smell fine and look normal when I cut them.
I’m not sure what the acidity of the container is (whether it’s a low-acidity environment). The container is damp inside but has been refrigerated. It has been sealed (airtight) for more days than I can remember.
In this case — and for fruits/vegetables in general stored in airtight containers that aren’t canned or vacuum-sealed — is there any risk of getting botulism?
Thank you so much! :)
