cat keeps pooping outside the litter box help
so my cat lily is around 10 years old and over the last few years she has been pooping outside the litter box. it used to be maybe once or twice a month but it has progressed to at least once a week over the last two months.
not only this, but she has horrible smelly and runny poop. of course she has been to the vet for this many times, but every time they basically just said she has cat IBS and there is nothing they could do for us.
i’ve tried every type of diet possible for her and i don’t know what to do to help her because obviously her poops are not how they should be. she strains when she’s pooping and jumps between litter boxes multiple times and when i’m not home she just poops straight on the bed.
it is so frustrating having to completely strip and wash my bed multiple times a week but its even more frustrating that i dont know how to help her.
i know its not linked to the cleanliness of the litter box because i keep it as clean as i can and sometimes she will poop on the bed just hours after i last cleaned the boxes. my parents think its a behavioral issue but i think its more than that.
i’m coming here as a last resort because i don’t know what to do with her at this point and it’s driving me a little bit insane. i just want my baby to feel better :(
