I (40 F) have a low contact relationship with my mother. We see each other once a month at a restaurant. I insist on it being a public place so she doesn't start the emotional abuse she put me through as a child. She usually behaves in public but if she starts I can leave without her trying to stop me like she would in private.

For mothers day she wants to eat at The Cheesecake factory. If it were just mothers day I would just grin and bear it. The problem is she has insisted we eat at the Cheesecake factory for our once a month dinner since they opened. I have eaten almost everything on the menu at this point and I am done.

Would I be the jerk if I told her (on mothers day) that after mothers day this year we have to eat somewhere else?
