How it started, and how it’s going!
Far from perfect, but I’m pretty excited about my first yarn and the progress in just the one skein. I still need to wash and finish it, but I’m already planning on my next yarn and paying more attention to the direction of my fiber, keeping the singles lined up for plying, etc!
Drop spindle, I started this a long time ago and didn’t touch it for years so I’ve forgotten what kind of wool (it’s at least sheep!) First picture is the beginning of the skein for both the singles and the plying, second is the end of the skein.
I definitely started running into some trouble with the plying, some of my singles were losing their twist while I was plying. (I think you can even see in the first picture, some of my singles lost practically all of their twist) Do I need to overtwist my singles to prevent this? Or is it a matter of making sure I stop the twist from reaching the singles when I’m spinning it (like, holding my finger at the point of plying so the twist doesn’t travel to the singles? I hope that makes sense!)
