Good pet for college?

I’m looking to get a pet for my second year of college and am choosing between a hamster or guinea pig (or anything else that people might recommend). I can already see the comments coming so first I’ll address a few things for context:

  1. I’ve owned hamsters before and know how to properly take care of them and I know that both hamsters and guinea pigs need more space than what pet stores cram them in.

  2. I’ve already completed one year of college without a pet because I wasn’t sure I’d have time to commit to one. But I’ve decided based off MY own experiences that a pet is a responsibility I’ll have more than enough time for while balancing academics

  3. I know my room dimensions, I’ve visited the room I’m living in next year and know that I can secure a single for myself for the rest of my time in college

I’ve seen a lot of skeptics about people getting pets in college, but I’m a person who’s grown up with pets all my life and cares for them deeply. Going through my first year of college was insanely hard for me with no animals since it’s not something I’m used to.

My hair has always had ends like these, no matter what products I use or how often I trim. Even when I go long periods of time without using heat and I don’t know what to do anymore :(
