13 Silverado a year and a half later

2 labor days ago I came home with this truck for 6500, after passing on a similar plow truck that had bad frame rot. As I expected, it needed pads and rotors all the way around, one front caliper, one wheel bearing, both exhaust manifolds, a muffler and winter tires. Other than the tires I did all the work. Then I patched one bed side and got the summer wheels in January. Its been 100% reliable, I use it to plow in the winter and we haul our camper in the summer.

It wasnt the truck I was planning on buying, but Im glad things worked out the way they did. Even with the cost of parts I came in under the 11k I was going to spend on the other truck. Hopefully I wont have to go truck shopping again for a looong time.

Do I still have it?

From 15 to 27 I did reconditioning, before turning to mechanical work for better pay. I still break out my buffer when the urge hits. 2 step, wool pad with Megs Diamond Cut, followed up with Malco finishing polish on a black foam pad, and good old Turtle Wax Paste.

The fender came from a scrap yard and I had to peel that silly pinstripe off, which left a shadow in the clear. I figured since I had to fix that, i might as well do the whole truck.

Wtf is even going on!?

Edit: yes, yes, we all hate rowling and by extension, her creation. However, utilizing the material of a transphobe to make a statement about transphobia is deliberate.

Im a mechanic, Ive been working on cars since I was 15, I spent almost a decade reconditioning them before becoming a Chevrolet technician. These days I do maintenance work at a hospital, but I still like to work on my own stuff.

This past weekend I pulled the engine from my little project truck, and it was *exhausting*. Ive always been physically fit, Im not particularly big, but for my size I was always pretty strong. If I took a guess, Id say I was about 60% of my original strength after less than a year on hormones. That's *with* continuing the same work Ive always done, the same diet, and even adding exercises to try and maintain the strength I had. The idea that a trans woman can take feminizing hormones and dominate womens sports is ludicrous.

Thank you for reading my rant, beautiful people in my plastic rectangle :)
