Horizon 20 base or pro?

What do you guys think? I’ll be watching on a 110 inch ez cinema Matt white screen (the foldable one from elite screens) in a VERY dark room. Do you think I need to buy those extra lumens? I’m not sure.

Projector Screens for Xgimi horizon 20

Im planning on getting an xgimi horizon 20 projector and every place I look at screens, it's either too sketchy or cost more than then the projector. For a 120in or 100in projector screen, do you guys have any good budget options for a basement with a few small windows. I prefer 120in. Thank you

Hey everyone,
I’m planning to get the Titan Noir Max and I’m currently thinking about what streaming device to pair it with.
From what I’ve seen, the projector itself is pretty high-end (triple laser, Dolby Vision, etc.), but it’s not really an all-in-one “portable smart projector” like something like the Horizon Pro. (No tvOS)
My use case is a bit specific:
I’ll be moving the projector fairly often between 2–3 rooms, so I really want something compact, clean, and ideally semi-permanently attached to the projector.
What I’m trying to avoid:
bulky boxes like an Apple TV (too much extra stuff to carry)
HDMI sticks that stick straight out (like Fire TV Stick), since they feel awkward and like they could bend or get damaged when moving the projector
What I would love:
something small like a Chromecast-type device
ideally something I can mount/tape neatly to the projector body
minimal cable mess
still powerful enough to fully utilize the projector (4K, Dolby Vision, etc.)
So I guess my questions are:
What streaming device would you recommend for this kind of setup?
Is there anything compact that doesn’t stick out awkwardly?
Any creative mounting solutions people are using?
Curious what setups you guys are running, especially if you also move your projector around a lot.
Thanks!

Xgimi- The love/hate relationship

First off. Out of the box, I loved the Horizon Pro 4k. Fantastic projector... Until it wasn't. I ended up with the DMD chip partially failing after 1.5 years, leading to a snowglobed image. Xgimi offered a refurbished replacement at a cost which I declined. And subsequently the projector now won't turn on. Like former ex, you idealize Xgimi products...and forget how bad their customer service is and try to forget the very questionable thermal pad and cooling strategies that lead to the original issue. Has anyone else doubled down of a Xgimi projector and had a better second experience? Or have you moved on the hopeful greener pastures? Would love to hear your experiences

I am experiencing moderate RBE with the XGIMI Horizon 20 base model (turns out I am sensitive). I would like to keep the projector, as I like many of the other features, and this pretty much maxed out my budget. 3LCD is not an option right now, because even the cheapest (Epson HC3200) is $250 more than I paid for the H20.

Can you please provide any information you have on how to reduce RBE using the settings?

Do I adjust brightness, colors, etc?

XGIMI will correct lumens brightness specifications for the following models:

  • XGIMI Horizon (XK03K) will be reduced from 2,200 Lumens down to 1,500 Lumens

Horizon HD - Just stopped working

Hi All,

So I went to turn on my projector this morning and it’s no longer displaying anything. I turn it on - after approximately 10 seconds of red light blinking the fans kick in and it powers up with no display. I can hear that everything is still working eg. Sound of the remote and clicking an app eg YouTube. For context this projector is approx 2.5 years old. I’ve seen that a lot of people have had this happen to them. Just wondering what everyone did to fix the issue etc!

Typical how this happens just after warranty!

My projector is the standing Horizon HD projector.

Horzion Max 20 - Shitty Design Decisions

This thing cannot be automated reliably due to its internet connectivity being lost. Neither power state helps to make it retain its connection - its a dog shit feature and they clearly didn't test it. Having an RF compatible remote would have ironically been 1000x better than a Bluetooth remote.

Having to enable Super Frame everytime I turn on my Projector is fucking stupid. They need to fix this idiotic shit.

Further to the above, having to enable VRR after enabling super frame is really stupid. Like come on. How did they think it was convenient for people to have to flip these options on everytime we boot? Fix this shit, XGIMI. Seriously

It's insane because this really is one of the best Projector's on the market but idiotic and dogshit implementation of features is shining a bad light on this company.

Xgimi Horizon 20 Weird Red Line

Does anyone know if the faint red line at the top of my Xgimi Horizon 20 projection is normal? It is uniform and only at the top. Should I exchange?

Which grey screen for the XGIMI Horizon 20 (base model) ?

We can fit in a 106 inch fixed frame screen in a room with ambient light. I’ll be honest, I’m quite perplexed by the options:

Sapphire grey, Celexon Dynamic Slate, Elite CineGreys, NothingProjector 0.8 gain & Silver Tickets array of different grey screens.

I’ve read warnings about some Silver Ticket screens combined with triple laser projectors.

What would you go for and why?

"The RS30 Pro features a 0.47-inch DMD chip and Xgimi’s custom X Master red ring lens with a high-transmittance coating for enhanced image clarity. It delivers up to 3600 ISO lumens with a 4000:1 native contrast ratio and includes a stepless bionic aperture (F/2.0 to F/5.0) for adjustable brightness and contrast.

The RS30 Pro Max delivers up to 4800 ISO lumens and 4100 CVIA lumens, while maintaining a native contrast ratio of 4000:1. The RS30 Ultra boosts brightness further to 6100 ISO lumens and 5200 CVIA lumens.

The RS30 Ultra Max sits at the top of the lineup. It features the same core optical system but introduces a higher-performing dual-blade bionic aperture. This system adjusts up to F/7.0, raising the native contrast ratio to 7000:1. The projector outputs 6800 ISO lumens and provides exceptional dynamic contrast of up to 80,000:1.

The RS30 series models are priced at 8,822 yuan ($1,290) for the RS30 Pro, 10,199 yuan ($1,475) for the Pro Max, 11,499 yuan ($1,681) for the Ultra, and 13,499 yuan ($1,974) for the flagship Ultra Max. These models are expected to launch later this year as the Horizon series in the global market."

Info copied from the site Gizmochina.

Very exciting news and a surprise to me, that they already trickle down their Iris tech from the Titan to the cheaper line.

Titan Noir Max Question

Hey, I'm new to the projector world, but I recently got a 165 inch projector screen and have a cheap projector I've been using. I finally want to go big and I am thinking of getting the titan noir max, but I want to know if I will be able to project a 165 inch screen from approx. 13 - 14 ft away using the zoom function? Currently my projector is super far away in a different connected room - I want to be able to put this within the same room and use it, so I am wondering if that would be enough distance for it. Would be great if someone could help me out, thanks.

I have an Apple TV connected the HDMI port of my Horizon 20 Pro. I have set the projector to default to showing the connected HDMI port rather than the native Android OS when it turns on.

Sometimes (quite frequently) when I power on the projector, I just see a black screen instead of the Apple TV interface. The Apple TV is powered on and working fine, the projector is definitely set to the correct HDMI input... but nothing is shown, just a black screen.

This happens maybe 3 times out of every 10 times I turn it on... which is becoming very annoying.

The only way to fix the issue when it happens is to force restart the Horizon 20 Pro (hold the power button on the remote and then choose "restart")... at which point it always works fine again.

Does anybody else have this issue?

EDIT - One thing I forgot to mention is I just "sleep" my projector after I'm finished with it rather than a full power off... not sure if that has any impact on the issue.

The benefit of sleep vs full power off is decreased startup time the next time you want to use it (about 5 seconds to wake vs about 30-40 seconds for a full boot).

I’m looking to get a projector for my terrace. It’s a large open air terrace with a view and no projectable walls so I was thinking to get a portable screen of about 90” or 100” to place in front of the parapet. Throw distance is not an issue (>7m available). I have power outlets on the terrace and WiFi. The terrace is fully open (no roof) and the backdrop is lake view / skyline view, there’s no big street lights around but still a bit of ambient light at night. We usually start watching around 21:00 and in summer there’s still some light. I need to place and remove everything every time I use it so it needs to be as easy as possible, WiFi streaming is a must.

Wich projector do you suggest for these conditions? How much lumens minimum? Budget would be around 1000€.

Hey All! So, as stated, I have my Horizon 20 arriving today, and I want to get it set up asap tonight so I can start using it. I have been reading that there have been firmware updates that have been put out by XGIMI since this projector series was released near the end of last year.

My questions are as follows:

  1. Will the projector I am buying (sold by XGIMI) come with those updates, or will I need to obtain them?

  2. If I need to obtain/install them, how do I go about doing that?

  3. Does anyone else have any helpful hints to make setup go smoothly?

Thanks for your help!

I pledged for the Titan Noir Max and Ascend screen combo on KS but after looking a bit more into it, it seems like that screen was designed to be rather used in combination with an UST projector. I'm very confused...
