What's there to do over summer?

Okay, I'm 28M and this past semester I didn't have a single actual conversation. My classes had like 15% attendance, I tried club fair and going to clubs, I've tried making and responding to posts, I've tried going to various lounges and trying to appear approachable, I've tried the vet center, I've tried CAPS. Everyone has headphones on, looks busy, young, or already in some established group. I haven't had a human being to speak to in person for years. I don't know if I can go another summer like this.

What is there SPECIFICALLY (plz don't just say 'join a club' or 'have a hobby') in pullman or at WSU this summer, where there is a chance to meet a human being or be seen in any way? I'm willing to try all sorts of random stuff, although bars really aren't my vibe (and I just sat alone drinking the times I have tried). I'm crippling lonely.

Will I get disciplined by the university over this?

NOT IN PULLMAN I WILL NOT SAY WHICH CITY AS I DO NOT WANT TO DOX MYSELF.

Yesterday, I 19f was walking on a sidewalk with a friend, I had a can of beer in my hand and the police approached me and stopped me.

They asked me for my ID I said that I do not have any and tried to walk away saying "Ok, I will just go". the cop told me I am not free to leave and handcuffed me behind my back. She sat me down on the curb and asked me for my name and DOB while I was giving my name (before I gave middle or last) I slipped a cuff and tried to run away. The cops grabbed me in seconds and reapplied the cuffs.

I was taken to the police department and spent the the night there. They also took a mugshot and scanned my fingerprints. I was NOT taken to jail just to the police department.

So what can I expect FROM THE UNIVERSITY? My charges are:

Minor in Possession (RCW 66.44.270.3A)

Obstructing a Law Enforcement Officer (RCW 9A.76.020)

Hit and run

Has anyone seen a 2004-2010 bmw x3 with damage to the passenger front corner? Last night someone hit and ran my car and left behind a tow eye cap that returns as coming from an x3 in that era. It happened some time last night at birch hills by the j building. Any help is appreciated.

Obviously a throw away account because my main account has some identifiable info.

I've been taking courses for three semesters from a teacher in the CS dept. He consistently receives very low course ratings from dozens of students. However, he returns every semester to continue teaching without any improvement or changes. This fella doesn't even reply to emails, has no office hours and is seemingly not interested in teaching at all.

Honest question, not throwing shade: can teachers even be fired once they are hired? Is there any accountability at all?

A Long Shot

After an exhaustive search, turning up nothing, I ask my fellow Reddit brothers and sisters (see what I did there?).

Any leads on this shirt Dan is wearing? They are coming to the PNW soon, and I'd love to rock this to the show.

This is from the You Gotta Lose video, and I'm so curious if there is any backstory here, or if it just came from wardrobe before a shoot.

The Annex at Pullman

Hello! Has anyone ever lived at the Annex? I was wondering if you enjoy living there and if it's worth it? (and to ask how loud it is lol)

Thank you!

I am picking courses for next semester, but I need some advice regarding electives I am considering. Specifically, which classes are interesting and which ones are horrible or just not worth it. I am planning on enrolling half-time for the fall semester of 2026.

I am mostly looking for a course that is interesting, engaging, has a light-medium course load (if the course load is heavy at least its fun or enjoyable), or a professor that is not too harsh, etc. (Im sure you get the point)

The couse I ultimately decide on, or courses that you reccommend, don't have to have all of those attributes obviously. I am looking for which course is the closest to having as many of those attributes or basically is the closest to what I am looking for as possible.

Classes I am already enrolled in for this upcoming semester include:

  1. PHYS 102 and 112: General Physics and General Physics Laboratory (4 credits)

  2. H_D 360: Death and Dying (3 credits)

Please refer to the picture I attached for the complete list of electives I am considering. The alternative courses are not necessarily in any particular order, they are just listed randomly.

I have listed the specific professors below for the courses, since I know that is a huge part of whether a class is really worth it or if it will be a living hell.

H_D 360: Raven Weaver

SOC 368: Kristin Cutler

HISTORY 383: Ashley Wright

PHIL 446: Callie Phillips

HISTORY 368: Raymond Sun

PSYCH 333: Remington Swensson

BIOLOGY 315: Edward Johnson

The classes listed under the alternatives section in the picture would replace H_D 360: Death and Dying, if any of them prove to be a better fit, of course.

My thought process was that "H_D 360: Death and Dying" is the most interesting, safe (and available/open) class to enroll in (with the knowledge I have so far). I want to now reassess my other alternative opions for an elective since I have enrolled in one just in case to secure a completed half-time schedule. I need to know if the listed alternatives are considered horrible or less interesting or more difficult etc. in comparison to H_D 360. If none are better options for me based off of the information you all provide, then I will be staying enrolled in H_D 360 which is also okay by me. I just want to be absolutely sure that my last elective I take at the university ever again is going to be extremely enjoyable and worth it.

I also already put myself on the waitlist for SOC 368: Drugs and Society. This course, was actually my first choice for an elective but it was full, so I enrolled in H_D 360 which was my second choice for an alternative and also was open/available (again, the order of my choices was made with the minimal knowledge I have as of right now regarding all of these courses I listed). I still feel that I am missing a lot of information about these courses in general and am looking to change that.

I want to know anything and everything you have to say about any of these classes to help me be able to make an informed decision on which elective is the best fit for me next semester.

I am looking for anyones opinions on one/some/all of the listed classes in the picture and what your experience was taking them. Information that you have heard from other people you know taking the classes listed helps as well.

NOTE: I have already checked every single "course review" website that I could find, and there wasn't any information about any of the courses I am considering.

Anything anyone knows about the courses/professors is extremely helpful and appreciated.

TL;DR

I need help deciding which courses are the best option for an elective. I enrolled in one of them already just to be safe (H_D 360: Death and Dying), and I am wondering if any of the other listed alternative classes in the attached picture are a better choice/fit than the one I have enrolled in.

Again, any and all advice is extremely appreciated! Thank you all in advance for your help and taking the time to comment/interact with this post!

I just submitted my last final and am graduating this weekend and I’m so excited! Looking back I’m pretty proud of my accomplishments. I’ve met amazing people, accessed many different opportunities, and am graduating with honors for my major.

Going online and doomscrolling however was a bad idea for me and now I’m dealing with feelings of FOMO from the stuff I’ve missed out on. In high school I was very depressed (alongside other issues) and that kinda bled into my earlier years in college. I was slowly healing myself and while I’m proud of my journey so far, I wish I wasn’t such a shut-in when I got here in the beginning.

I started regaining self worth, taking care of myself, and bettering my mental health in the later half of my junior year. Since then things have been amazing and I’m proud to call myself a Coug and be a part of the community! Still I grieve that I hadn’t involved myself sooner and may have not had the typical college experience. I’ve never even been to a frat party!

This doesn’t take away from my overall accomplishments all experiences are different but FOMO sucks. To any future Cougs, don’t be afraid to leave your confort zone. Pullman is amazing place to meet new people and find opportunities. I can’t recommend enough the counceling center here (CAPS) who have helped me transition into enjoying being alive again.

Thank you WSU for everything, I’ve learned so many lessons here. Go Cougs!

What are the chances that school will be cancelled in fall because of the hentaivirus?

During the hotel check-in scene, the receptionist calls out that Adam Scott's character was visiting from Pullman, WA. No direct WSU connection like Dakota Johnson's graduation in 50 shades, but close enough... GO COUGS!

Couldn't find anything in the director's biography that pointed to WSU; which one of you slipped this in? At this rate, we'll catch up to Harvard film references in ~10000 years.

I feel like a completely different person since I've move in. I've had more character development in the last year than all 4 years of high school. I was skeptical if I was going to like it but it went pretty well

Looking for Roommate for Fall

I have a friend going to WSU in the fall who is looking for a roommate to live off campus with for at least the first semester. She's 22f from Mexico City, fluent in both English and Spanish. She's looking for other girl roommates, but we both don't know anyone currently @ WSU. She's been at community college these past two years and is hoping to just focus on her studies this year. Super relaxed, as she is on a STEM track, so she'll be very busy throughout the semester. PM me if you or anyone you know might be interested!

I doubted myself at first if ever I could get in because I know my interview didn't go well. But God is in control, and this is the path He has prepared for me! I am beyond grateful for this! 🙏🏽

A little bit of history, I got my first bachelor's degree in the Philippines almost 2 decades ago. WSU credited my degree as equivalent to their UCORE, so all I need to do is do a few classes for my prerequisites. I took the TEAS 3 times. They only need 70%, and I got 76% on my third try. I had 3.6 GPA for my prerequisites and 2.6 in my first degree(I know, not great). I have been an HCA/CNA for almost 10 years. I think what got me in is they have a holistic approach to considering students who deserve to be admitted. I might not stand out in my interview, but I did great in the other criteria. Congratulations to all who got in and to those who are still waiting, don't give up! You got this! You'll get there when the time is right! 🙏🏽

Hi WSU members, I recently lost a black backpack that had a chemistry notebook and a MacBook Air 13inch. If anyone one can find it, please DM and I will give a 300 dollar cash reward. Thank you for your help. This is in Pullman campus

I have a 3.6 GPA and usually get mostly A's, a B, and a D. It looks like this semester I will have an F instead of a D, and maybe a C instead of a B. Will they rescind my acceptance? I'm concerned.

Hey everyone,

I haven’t studied math for the past two years (was living in India), and I’ve never been very good at it to begin with. I’m a bit worried about how difficult the ALEKS test will be for someone like me.

Is it manageable if I’m really rusty? Any tips or experiences would help a lot.
