Roadside Rosary Shaggers

The four elderly, white, cis men near the hospital hoping that words spoken to their sky fairy of choice will disencourage women from accessing healthcare. Not sure your 'God' can change our laws or constitution lads. Must be mortifying for their families, particularly their daughters, granddaughters and wives. Opinions fine and these old bigots are as entitled as any of us. Roadside signs hardly discreet, subtle or respectful particularly near a hospital. They simply don't care who they upset. Mysogynists to the core...

cheesecake rip off?

Well lads,

I’ll leave the name of the company out of this since people seem to love them around town. They set up a pop up shop in my workplace every few weeks and I was having a bit of a shitty day so I said I’ll get myself and the work bestie a cheesecake for a lunchtime pick me up.

Tell me why the chap has a go at me for accidentally asking for a sold out flavour and then charges me 25 euro for two tiny bits of cheesecake in cups. TWENTY FIVE EURO, and then laughs and remarks on how I didn’t bat an eye at the price. I was absolutely floored but tapped my card and took them anyway because I was genuinely scared of telling him I don’t want them for that price with the way he was treating me.

Yeah maybe I should’ve asked beforehand how much they were because I’d NEVER pay that much for the size of them. Twenty five quid put me into shock though. The attitude as well? Fuck that. Asked around, apparently that price tag is unheard of among all the other staff that got bits out of there so I’m now convinced I got scammed. Moral of the story is ask first and don’t be afraid to stand your ground I guess, it’s sad because I’ll never give them another cent again but damn the cheesecakes are good. For that price though I’d rather go to the shop and get the ingredients to make two full sized cakes myself ffs.

Anyway, 25 euro for less than 10 bites of cake I’d say. Wtf

What home renovations actually cost in Ireland?

Most people go into a renovation with no idea what things should cost and end up overpaying or running out of budget halfway through. Put together some real Irish market figures if anyone finds them useful. Happy to answer questions.

Sinn Fein haters mob come at me

Nobody's voting SF based on their personalities. I have listened to their finance spokesperson Pearse Doherty speak since he was a senator and I actually think his economic policies are fairly sound. I definitely agree with creating a national sovereign wealth fund which the current coalition government has proposed but instead would also encourage using tax windfalls like the Google tax and corporation tax windfalls towards fixing the health and housing crisis.

I mean, SF really aren't as left as people think. They love the corporation tax at 12.5%. Want to absolish USC up to 45k, there's no radical nationalisation plans other than wanting to eventually have free healthcare and to gradually build up towards it 🤷 It's very reasonable and the economics make sense.

Bloom cafe staff

Not one to give out about small businesses but was in Bloom cafe on Saturday, was fairly busy but staff were doing their best. There was a girl taking orders at the till not sure if she was a manager or not but the way she spoke to the young girl working there was absolutely atrocious. She was shouting and roaring at her and the poor girl was only trying to do her best. Absolutely no way to be speaking to people

Have I been robbed?

Shoutout to Bolands Garage Waterford for charging me €82 to remove wheel lock nuts.

Not replace them.

Not fit new ones.

Not repair anything.

Just remove them.

Now maybe that’s the normal rate these days and I’m out of touch altogether, but nearly €100 for what looked like a 4 to 5 minute job fairly caught me off guard.

Fair play to the lads though. At this stage I’m clearly after choosin the wrong career if a socket set is earnin more per hour than most people in Waterford.

Are WLR a FF station

I’ve always suspected it, but I used to dismiss the painfully soft interviews Damien Tiernan and the newsroom gave Mary Butler as just weak journalism rather than outright political bias. But after seeing their own Facebook posts celebrating FF’s 100-year anniversary event — with the news editor openly attending and posing at the party — it’s impossible to ignore anymore.

Since when did journalists become participants in political PR events they’re supposed to scrutinise? Was this an official media invitation extended to all outlets, or did they choose to actively involve themselves in a party celebration? And if other media organisations attended, did they also publicly promote it on their social channels like enthusiastic supporters?

It’s embarrassing to watch a newsroom abandon even the appearance of neutrality and behave more like FF sympathisers than independent journalists.

So are the station just quietly admitting they are a FF party?

Places for parties? Approx 70 people?

Hey everyone
Just what the title says. Looking for a place to host a party in Waterford city, not too far from the quay for around 70 people for a birthday.

Would rather a private room and I don’t know if the reg is possible as it would be on a Saturday and not too sure if they’ll give a room during the churchyard sessions.

Any suggestions much appreciated
