I've reverse-engineered the ZDL file format

Hey community,

I’ve built a toolchain for developing custom effects for the MS-70CDR pedal series. At this point, the pedals can basically be treated as an open-source coding platform. Right now I’m porting Chris Johnson’s Airwindows plugins step by step.

“Stereo Chorus” is already up and running, sounding flawless so far.

If you want to contribute ports or simply download and use the FX, check out the GitHub repo:

https://github.com/repeat98/ZoomMultistompZDL

Custom ZDL support will be coming with the Zoom Effect Manager 2.3.3 update.
Spread the word, so we get more developers on board to make more FX.

Also, if you have suggestions for effects you’d like to see, leave them in the comments.

Cheers,
J

Got room for three more, which ones should I get?

Hi everyone!

I got a Sample 2 (which I really enjoy) and I'm looking to fill up a rack of 4. Now it's time for decisions and I seek your wisdom.

If you had to choose three out of all the Volcas (excluding Sample), which would you pick to cover the most ground?

On another note, the Volca Mix looks like a nice tool to manage the whole thing, but is it worth it or should I save this space on the rack for another instrument Volca?

I'm also planning on getting a Minilogue xd soon so that might also play into the equation...

Thanks!

Had to keep it quiet since it was early morning… didn’t realize I’d be adding breathing as a layer lol

My brain froze halfway through 😵‍💫

Playing around with Volca Bass + Beats again today.
When the sequence doesn’t go the way I expected, my brain just freezes lol.
Do you guys actually memorize “okay, next is pattern 3, then 7, then 2…” and so on?
Isn’t that kind of exhausting? 😂
Can you pre-program the order of sequences somehow?

Help with Volca Modular

Hi!

I've got a Volca Modular that I bought on a whim ages ago and have never really used. I want to incorporate it into my setup, but it is my only CV synth, the rest being MIDI controlled via my laptop.

I've been hoping to use a MIDI to CV converter to control it, but I have no experience with CV.

Could anyone recommend me a good MIDI to CV unit, and what kind of cables I would need to connect it up properly?

Thanks for any help!!!!

Question about Volca Sample

On the Volca Beats/Bass if I load a bank, the pattern will immediately switch mid-measure. Does Volca Sample work this way, or does it queue up the pattern for step 1 of the next measure?

Finally!!figured out how to separate VCO3

I finally figured out how to make VCO3 independent.
Also… the manual is way too minimal sometimes 😅
Please explain more lol.

This time I think the cutoff tweaking near the end came out pretty nicely, so I wanted to share it!

Hope you enjoy 😊

Shelf is built out of:
- 6U Millenium Rackstand (12,50€ from Thomann)
and
- 3x old Rack Shelfs found in our Datacenter Scrap

Next step will be a permanently cabling system attached and hide as well as possible at the Shelf, but also allows an easy switching/ Plug & Play of other Devices.

🤩🤩🤩

trying to sync to machine

hello I am just starting with these kind of machine so excuse my noobness please :) also english isn't my first language and I am lacking vocabulry on this matter ( I dbe lacking vocabulary in my own language as well :) )

how do you sync to machines? sometimes it works perfectly other times not...

not showed in the video but many time both volcas are are "out of phase " step 1 of the sample is not beating with step 1 from bass but with step 3 for exemple and they juste keep going at the sync speed but not at the same step on each machine. mainly I try to press play simltaneously but with fast tempo sometimes it is still not good enough.... and what if you have more than 2 machines but only two hands? how do you start it all together??

shown in the video when I start ( press play simultaneously) the on both volcas with the sync cable pluged in , the bass make this wierd patern see video where it randomly skip some steps but not always the same.
when I remove the sync cable, it makes all the steps as expected but of course not it sync with the volca sample (as there is no link in between).
then I have to manually slow down the machine and put the cable at the right time to have them synchronized in phase (step1 with step1) and then I could finally increase the tempo to have it sync properly as I wanted ...

all this is a bit to randow . is there something important that i am missing

edit typossss

Sorry for posting so much.
I really like 303-style sounds, so this kind of stuff is just easy for me to vibe with.

There aren’t many Japanese users on Reddit—does that matter? Also, is it bad to post this frequently?

I’m still figuring things out, so I’d appreciate any advice.

Help with Volca Sample and Arturia Keystep

Hey all

My son loves his volca sample and we're slowly figuring out how to use its many features together. My son is blind and still quite young, so I looked for a MIDI-keyboard, because the touch-keyboard of the volca is a bit harder to use for him (he basically has to remember the distance of the buttons, because he can't feel them, which can be frustrating especially when he wants to use the memory funtion).

Now I was a bit naive - and honestly I'm a total noob concerning this stuff, as I'm learning this stuff with him - and I thought I could just plug in an Arturia Keystep with a MIDI-cable and then he could use the keys of the Keystep instead of the touch-keys of his volca sample.

But thats not at all how it seems to work. Right now, when I press any key on the keystep, it'll play the last selected key of the volca. I can change that by pressing shift and then another key (on the Keystep), which will set all keys on the Keystep to the selected new, corresponding volca key. What I'd like it to do is basically set each key of the Keystep to the corresponding key of the volca, without having to press shift (and without it then setting ALL keys to that key).

I tried the different settings on the back of the Keystep, but that didn't change anything. I tried the different MIDI settings on the volca sample (holding function when powering up), but the only thing I achieved was changing it so it didn't work at all.

I thought I might have to set up the Keystep properly and thus downloaded the MIDI control center. I connected the Keystep, but couldn't figure out what setting I'd have to change, as nothing seemed to change what I wanted.

So my question: Is it even possible to use the Arturia Keystep this way? I.e. that I can press the most left key on it and that'll input the most left key of the sample and so on? Or isn't that what it's intended for?
And what do I have to do? Do I have to buy a mod? I've also read about different softwares for the sampler, might that be what I need?

Please help, I'm growing frustrated after multiple hours of trial and error!

No Speakers. No Sync.No FX. Just Raw Sound.

The AGOGO sound kept getting too smaller when I ran everything through speakers, so this time I tried using only the built-in speakers.
I think it came out kinda cute. Honestly, I had way more fun with this setup than I expected!

Sorry for posting every day 😅

So I just got my DoReMidi and my Arturia Minilab 3 today! Plugged it all in and it worked off the bat. Only strange thing is that my Volca Bass and Volca FM seem to be playing at the same time through the Arturia! It sounds awesome, however I thought you could separate your Volcas through the Minilab and assign one to each pad. Anyone know how to do this? Youtub tutorials are no help!

Tweaking the resonance is so addictive, I totally lose track of time.
Hopefully no nose breathing got recorded this time lol
