My (old) new toy arrived

I have to say out of all the older tech I've bought this has the biggest unpackaging wow factor.

Even if this was a brand new 2026 device id still be delighted with the form factor, weight etc.

Windows 7 isn't nearly as bad as I'd heard. Maybe thanks to the SSD.

I'll only be using for markdown and as a code editor etc. so seems no need to do anything to it!!

Happy to help a viao owner!!

Imagine how cool you felt to have one in 2009 !

Finding a batter for a Viao P VPCP11AKJ

Hello,

I just came across a nearly immaculate VPCP11AKJ in white, so I bought it, but the battery was dead and isn't included. I think it is VGP-BPS23 I've tried everywhere I can think of including ebay/amazon/battery specialists/zenmarket/buyee and can't seem to find a battery at a reasonable price. I've seen a couple from France at £90 which is too much.

Any suggestions? I don't have the dead one to even get it rebuilt.

Workarounds could be to create a connector for an external battery pack but that's a bit beyond me!

SX14-R2: VAIO finally updates their flagship laptop with new Panther Lake CPUs

https://store.vaio.com/shop/pages/sx14r2.aspx

As seen on the refreshed SX12 & SX14 models, the base TDP is down - from 28W to 15 & 25W - very good. For those who want a silent laptop, the Core Ultra 5 is probably the better option - which also makes much more sense in an ultraportable machine. The updated SX14-R is the first VAIO that features a NPU. Weight in the lightest configuration is 958g (from 999g), no exact information on battery capacities, so they might have saved there even though the runtimes are longer.

Sony Vaio pcg-u1 exe Crashing on Attempted recovery mode

I recently received a Sony Vaio PCG-U1. When using the recovery disks, and in the process of recovery mode, the computer will go into a crash. An error with the exe file not working. Reboot and have the same error again, repeating the cycle. I attempted to look for outside sources, but since its outdated and rare existence brings great difficulty, I sincerely hope that anyone who has experience with this device can inform me of any fixes. Your knowledge will be sincerely appreciated

VJS142 SX14 weird discharging of battery while says plugged in?

Very strange thing on the vaio vjs142. It is older but I have it hooked to external monitor sending power via USB-C PD and also the ac-dc adaptor. It charges battery and stays charged sometimes a few days but then hits a state where it starts to discharge the battery toward 0%...it keeps saying plugged in but as it gets to 5%, etc.. windows says battery almost out, plug in. it is plugged in. what is going on? why is it showing both plugged in, not charging, not running on outlet power? I tried without usb-c, without dc-in, but it just keeps discharging slowly and turns off. is the ac adaptor or the power circuit, or the battery defective?
