These were lying around under a weeping willow tree in a small nature reserve. They were maybe 10 inches long, weren’t heavy and were quite fibrous . I’ve only seen seed pods this huge in hotter and more tropical places.

This was in Cambridge, UK which is a (very) small city at the beginning of ‘the fens’ which is the edge of one of the biggest wetlands in Europe.

They look like a bit like giant walnut shells or old avocado stones . The dog is 55lb if that helps put things into size context.
