Highland Fling question

When (if ever) does the Highland Fling race sell out? I’m very tempted to give it a go this year, but want to see how I recover from the Wall in June because I would also like to do the Vitruvian Triathlon in September. The little common sense voice in my head is saying it may all be a bit much but I’m keen to capitalise on a good block of training so far this year!

After the last checkpoint, there are 29 kilometres until the finish: https://www.gbultras.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/BeaconsWay100kmElevation-2048x610.png

The mandatory gear for the race says runners should be able to carry 1 litre of water.

However, surely I'd need a lot more than that given that it will probably take me around 5 hours to complete that final section? It will be extremely early on Sunday morning, so I can't expect to find any shops open either.

Just wondering what the expectation here is from the race? Thought I'd ask here in case anyone has any tips based on experience in terms of water sources or strategies etc.

Thanks.

I’m taking part in the WHW race event in June 2026 and would benefit from a second crew member to help out. Looking for support between Tyndrum (half way) and the finish at Fort William. Thinking someone that lives fairly locally would be ideal and who has maybe completed the WHW before. Any ideas how I might find someone?
