London clubs question :)

Hi all! I'm looking for advice RE membership to clubs in London. It's difficult for me to get to Bisley, so would be looking for something more accessible in London area (I'm in North, Zone 2 ish).

I was previously a member of a club in Dorset for a couple years (though never got around to getting my FA license, mostly because of the waiting time and knowing I was going to likely have to move back to London for work). But having now moved away, I'm now looking at my options here.

I'm looking at Stock Exchange Rifle Club, Marylebone Rifle & Pistol Club, and Ham & Petersham. Does anyone have any experience with these, or things I should note? I was looking at Hendon, but can see on the website they are not accepting any applications for new members at the moment (I'm happy to be on a long waiting list)!

To note I am female. My previous club was very welcoming, albeit a bit of a boys club, but they were very warm, patient and encouraging. I'd be looking for more of the same.

Please excuse my immature username!

Short survey for indoor shooting provision in Shropshire area

Doing some independent research into local demand for indoor small-bore facilities in the Telford area. The closest options for most people here are 40 - 60 minutes away and I'm trying to get a clearer picture of whether that's actually putting people off or whether it's just accepted as normal.

Three minute survey, ten questions, fully anonymous.

Not selling anything, not announcing anything!

Just trying to establish whether there's a genuine gap worth addressing.

Appreciate any responses. Happy to answer questions in the comments.

18M near Woking - looking to get shotgun/firearm license, advice?

Hey everyone,

I'm 18 and I live near Woking (Surrey) and I'm looking to get a firearms or shotgun license. I've watched a lot of YouTube videos such as kendall grays hunting vids but also vids of clay pigeon shooting and shooting competitions. I want to actually try this out for myself and I'm sure I want to proceed with this to the fullest as even in VR I enjoy hunting and shooting guns. Obviously, in real life it isn't a game. I alsl want to get my own license and go hunting as well but what would be the best way to go about this?

Many thanks

Final version of my S&W 15-22 magazine cover!

Fits over a standard, unmodified S&W 15-22 magazine (other than replacing the base plate with my own version). Slides on, and clips securely in place, with no tools required. Eliminates pretty much all remaining slop, even when using a Boonie Packer 'Better-Mag' adapter, but still ejects cleanly.

Where to look for 2nd hand accessories?

Besides gunstar is there anywhere I should be looking for second hand accessories? Specifically scopes, bipods and furniture?

Anyone ever had any issues with police relating to antiques?

I’ve seen cases where the police have seized antiques and never returned them despite verifying that they are obsolete calibres.

Greener GP question

Howdy yall!

US cousin here, I bought this greener GP knowing most of its history and I loved it, bought it Tuesday, took it turkey hunting and bagged one on Wednesday.

My question is… would the breech and firing pin withstand the presure of 45colt or 45-70gvt? I know some people used them to make interesting rifles and I came across a few chamber reducers that are essentially barrels ment to work in 12 gauge shotguns, they have both 45 colt and 45/70 chamber reducers which would contain the bulk of the pressure, would the firing pin and action be fine?

I do intend to keep it mostly as is, very happy with the performance but would like to shoot either caliber for funsies/ LARP.

Scottish SGC Grant – What to Expect and Other Info

Hello folks!

Hope you're all getting on fine.

I've been wanting to join the clay community for some time but funds didn't allow. I'm much more settled down now so I have taken the plunge and applied for my shotgun certificate. I have a couple of questions for the community.

  1. What should I expect from a FEO visit? Is this where they ask for your reason for applying?

  2. I am basically a non-issue case but I did recently report an incident to the police regarding somebody trying my door handle late at night with clear intent to try and get in. They were drunks/druggies but obviously were unable to gain entry and I did not escalate the situation. Nothing was broken or stolen but I did report the incident to the police for good measure so there is a record of this and a corresponding incident number. It occurred to me that this incident might cause issues with my application, but this has been an isolated incident and nothing else has come of it. My house is extremely secure and has a plethora of cameras inside and outside, full home alarm system, spikes on perimeter fence, and two big dogs.

For reference I have:

- No criminal record

- Stable self-employment

- No notable health issues or record forby some minor stress

- Spika S3 12 gun safe which is securely bolted to both the floor and wall

- Two good referees
