Hello everyone,

I have a problem with my 5-year-old cat.

We have two cats of almost the same age, but the younger one is giving us trouble.

Unfortunately, she's started peeing on the sofa again.

It worked well for a long time that she didn't do it anymore, but recently it happened again after a few years.

The first time was when she was in heat.

This unfortunately completely ruined our sofa at the time.

Of course, we had her spayed, just like our other cat.

When we bought a new sofa, I naturally I took precautions because I wanted to protect the couch from future accidents.

I now have pee pads, a waterproof mattress protector, and a sofa cover on the "new" sofa.

To clean these in case of accidents and completely eliminate the urine smell, I have Bactador enzyme cleaner at home and wash the cover at 60°C after the initial soaking time.

I can always rely on it.

Unfortunately, Madame has recently found the couch appealing again after a long time and is peeing in the spot where she usually lies and cuddles with us.

It can't be due to the location of the litter box or the litter.

We've been using the Cats Best litter and stainless steel litter boxes for a while, and so far, both cats have been doing their business in it.

Yes, she uses the litter box, but still goes on the couch.

Her posture when going to the litter box is normal.

No pain posture and no blood in her urine.

The litter boxes are in quiet locations.

In the room leading to the bathroom and once in the far corner of the kitchen.

She eats normally and drinks enough fluids (which I can unfortunately see from the stain on the couch :")).

Making the couch "unattractive" doesn't help.

Aluminum foil and garbage bags are used as toys and swept down from it.

I always remove the seat and back cushions, so only the "skeleton" of the sofa remains, and of course I want to protect that with those options.

What I'm wondering now is, what could the problem be?

Luna is a very sweet, but also very wary cat.

She likes to interact with the larger cat.

They don't fight in a nasty way.

Is it some kind of marking because of the larger cat, or is it something else?

It would be nice if someone who has experience with their own cats could give me some advice.

Best regards, Ally.
