Unfortunately I cannot drive my car anymore because of my leg numbness, drop foot (bilateral), weak upper leg, weak thumbs and wrists to hold steer or even to click in my safety belt. I now need to get advice about car adaptions and somehow (money??) buy a van??
How many with FNS drive adapted cars/vans? How did that process go?
I have multiple abnormal needle EMG results (a.o. spontaneous activity) and muscle MRI and ultrasound results in hands, arms and lower body showing something neuromuscular is going on. Cannot keep my upright position or my head either while seating. Can walk for about 50-75 meters on good days, on bad days only in house. I use a wheelchair for longer distances. Cannot eat or dress myself without aids and with exhaustion afterwards. Sleeping is difficult cause of neuropathic pain and muscle fasciculations.
Already have diagnosis of Small Fiber Neuropathy (punch biopsy) but that doesn't explain these findings, nor beginning bilateral dropfoot and atrophy in hands. Also have lots of big muscle fasciculations. Atrophy and dropfoot were objectived by my rehab doctor and GP. I progressed so fast (6 months) that my rehab got cancelled. My GP, rehab doctor and local neurologist are really worried.
But the neuromuscular neurologist is gaslighting me for about 18 months now. Didn't do any testing and told me all the abnormal EMG results were all incidental findings. And the last thing I heard it is FNS??
