Weezer and Fall Out Boy were supposed to play together at Citi Field in Queens, NY, as part of the delayed Hella Mega Tour with Green Day. But hours before they were supposed to hit to stage, Fall Out Boy backed out of the show after getting exposed to COVID (which was exactly the last thing I wanted to hear as I was en route to my first post-pandemic concert). As a result, though, I got to witness Rivers Cuomo treat a packed baseball stadium to a cover of "Sugar We're Goin Down". Sorta fitting to share a clip of that performance - since not only does "From Under the Cork Tree" turn 21 in May, buy Weezer's Blue Album turns 31 this month as well...

9 years ago, I saw Opeth, Gojira AND the Devin Townsend Project play Starland Ballroom - all on the same night and stage. It's another one of those "holy crap, I saw THAT show in THAT venue?!" While Opeth and Gojira's popularity has arguably only grown bigger since (and Devin Townsend has been performing less and retired the DTP brand shortly after this tour), 2017 saw all three bands in high demand - each playing big tours and venues on their own. So to see them play the unbelievably intimate Sayreville venue, let alone on the same bill that year, still blows my mind even nine years later...

Check out footage from each band's set in this clip. And share what touring lineup are you still in disbelief that you actually got to witness in the comments below. Also stay tuned for more things to come from this space (including stories from concerts like this)!

I'm still processing my evening with Foo Fighters at the Starland Ballroom, but in short - WOW. I'll be posting lots of clips from this once-in-a-lifetime show, but for now - here's footage of Dave Grohl and co returning to the stage for an encore and a snippet of them blasting through "Best Of You".

Stay tuned for more 😉

On the day that would've been frontman Trevor Strnad's 45th birthday (and days before the 5th anniversary of his death), I can't help but remember the first time I saw the Black Dahlia Murder live. You could always rely on Mayhem Fest to introduce to some awesome bands, and the Black Dahlia Murder was one of them during the Aug. 7, 2009 tour stop at Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, NJ. With a gorilla mascot roaming the stage alongside Trevor, it felt more like a parking lot party than a typical melodic death metal show. It was a high energy set that stood out and always stuck with me - and that's saying a lot considering they shared a bill with the likes of Slayer, Killswitch Engage, Bullet For My Valentine, Trivium, Cannibal Corpse, Behemoth, God Forbid and a ton of others!

What band did you discover at a festival that left a memorable impression? Share in the comments below, and stay tuned for more things to come from this space (including stories from concerts like this)!

I still cannot believe I witnessed Foo Fighters playing Starland Ballroom ... I've seen Dave Grohl and co several times (ranging from massive stadiums to beach festivals), and while they always excel at creating an intimate atmosphere even on the biggest of stages, I never in my life thought I'd ever get to see them in an actual intimate venue like Starland Ballroom - getting to even stand at the side of the stage as if I was backstage (one of the many things that make Starland Ballroom such a unique venue). And the band did not disappoint - from Dave's humorous interludes ranging from random shout outs to WASP and Tesla, to sharing the surreal moment he met The Hooters' drummer backstage (who not only was Ilan Rubin's drum teacher, but also inspired Groghl to buy his first drum kit) and his genuine reaction to the NJ crowds' energy, to the incredible high-energized performance of deep cuts and classic hits, it was truly a night I will never forget. And enormous shout out to my wife for the crazy hours and efforts she put into scoring these infamous $30 tickets (which could only be purchased IN-PERSON - old school for the win!)

I plan to upload full videos I took throughout the night on the I Heard Bruce Might Show Up YouTube channel over time, and will try to post a more fleshed out review of the evening on Substack. But for now - here's a clip of Grohl revealing his "real vocal warm up" before wrapping up "Monkey Wrench" - a little taste of what this once-in-a-lifetime concert was like.

So yeah, stay tuned for more 😉

Happy 55th birthday to Chris Shiflett! One of the many, many, MANY highlights of seeing Foo Fighters at Starland Ballroom recently (May 2, 2026) was seeing Chris and Dave Grohl show love for hair metal during stage banter TWICE. The first came when Chris spotted a fan in the crowd wearing a W.A.S.P. tshirt, inspiring him to play the intro guitar riff to "Animal (F**k Like a Beast)". Then later on Grohl got the urge to sing "Signs" upon seeing fans holding signs up, leading to Grohl and Shiflett discussing wear Tesla were from (spoiler: Sacramento).

Check out the very random but awesome moment in this clip. And share your favorite random stage banter moments you've witnessed at a concert. Stay tuned for more things to come from this space (including stories from concerts like this)!

During Foo Fighters' intimate surprise show at Starland Ballroom (May 2, 2026), Dave Grohl shared that he met Ilan Rubin's drum teacher, who just so happened be the drummer of The Hooters. It's such an insane coincidence, because as Grohl would go on to share, it was seeing the yellow drum kit David Uosikkinen played in a music video on MTV that inspired him to buy a similar kit - which he had for many years and even used to record Nirvana's seminal album "Nevermind" (including "Smells Like Teen Spirit")!

Take a look at this clip of Grohl sharing this incredible chance meeting, as well as a clip of the band playing "My Hero" right into "Learn To Fly" earlier in the night. And stay tuned for more clips from this once-in-a-lifetime show, and stories from other concerts in this space.

17 years ago, Tina Turner performed what ended up being her final show ever. When I caught her "TIna!: 50th Anniversary Tour" stop at the Wachovia Spectrum in Philadelphia (Nov. 29, 2008), I couldn't have imagined this was going to be her final tour. I was amazed at how great she still sounded and how lively her performance was - when she wasn't singing what felt like every song in her extensive catalog, she was dancing up a storm or rushing through another costume change (seriously, felt like she had a new outfit for every song). She may have been celebrating her 50th Anniversary as the Queen of Rock n Roll, but she certainly didn't look like she was slowly down that night.

Who have you seen on what ended up being their final tour? Share in the comments below, and stay tuned for more things to come (including stories from concerts like this)!

Bruce Springsteen - "Born in the U.S.A." - Madison Square Garden - May 11, 2026

Holy crap, I just saw Bruce Springsteen rock the crap out of Madison Square Garden tonight! I'll be sharing more thoughts (and video 😉) from the evening with Bruce and the E Street Band (with special guest Tom Morello) over time. But for now - here's a taste of them playing "Born in the U.S.A." at

Bruce Springsteen Playing "Dancing In the Dark" and "Born to Run" at Madison Square Garden (May 11, 2026)

I still cannot believe I got to see Bruce Springsteen play Madison Square Garden... granted, you're guaranteed an incredible show from the Boss wherever he plays, but clearly Bruce and the E Street Band brought their A+ game to the World's Most Famous Arena (plus special guest Tom Morello). Seeing the entire band tear through a 3 hour set at full speed was astonishing... though honestly, what made the night really special for me was getting to share it with my dad. I'm so grateful that my parents brought me to so many concerts (including to my first Bruce show at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia back im 2003). But it's been a while since I went to a show with them. And while my mom couldn't join us, dad and I took plenty of video of us screaming our heads off to many songs to share with her/make her feel like she was there with us.

I'll spare you video of us doing live Bruce karaoke - instead, here are clips of the band tearing through "Dancing In the Dark" and "Born to Run". I absolutely loved that they turned the house lights on - a truly awe-inspiring sight to see an entire sold out Madison Square Garden dancing and singing along!

That Time I Saw Jack Johnson and G. Love Play Together at Sea Hear Now (Asbury Park, NJ - September 2018)

32 years ago, G. Love and Special Sauce released their self-titled debut I've seen G. Love live many, many times since, but getting to see him join his frequent collaborator Jack Johnson (whose celebrating a birthday May 18) for a few songs during the latter's headlining set of the inaugural Sea Hear Now festival back in 2018 was truly something special. Here's a snippet of them playing "Good People" on the Asbury Park Beach that night.

20 Years of "Stadium Arcadium" - Red Hot Chili Peppers Playing "Snow (Hey Oh)" + "Dani California" at MetLife Stadium (Aug. 17, 2022)

20 years ago, Red Hot Chili Peppers released "Stadium Arcadium".... wait, what?! How has it been 20 years since this album that I've obsessed with since high school came out? And how has it been 4 years since I saw RHCP perform classics off this album like "Snow (Hey Oh)" and "Dani California" at MetLife Stadium (Aug. 17, 2022)?! Though truth be told - nothing will be seeing RHCP at the actual Stadium Arcadium Tour's Oct. 23 stop at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia ... even 20 years later, it's still one of the best concerts I've ever seen!

That Time I Saw Faith No More Play a Sold Out NYC Show Hours Before Appearing on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon

11 years ago, I finally got to see Faith No More live. It was quite a sight to see the band tear through fan-favorites while donned in all-white playing on a stage covered in flowers. Though an even funnier sight - a few short hours after seeing them play a sold out Webster Hall in NYC, I arrived home in time to see Mike Patton and gang play The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon (wearing the same white outfits admist a sea of flowers)... What a sight indeed...
