Most of the people that visit Petra don’t make it this far. Although it is a difficult hike in my opinion it is totally worth it.

The most challenging hike in Petra is the one to the high place of sacrifice (Al Madhbah in Arabic) there are approximately 700 steps and it takes about an hour (high pace) to 2 hours to reach the the top.

If you can only do 1 hike and had to choose between this place and the monastery, I would choose the monastery it is more scenic in my opinion.
