Where do single men in their 30s-40s hang out in the Twin Cities?

Genuine question for the Twin Cities crowd - where do single men in their 30s-40s actually hang out on Saturday nights?

Bars? Breweries? Live music? Sports leagues? Home Depot at 8am on Sundays? Asking for a friend 😂

Hello!

As the title says, I am a 33 year old single dad with full custody of my son (he just turned 2!). He is literally the best thing that has ever happened to me but he leaves something to be desired in terms of conversation. With being a single father finding time for adult interactions is... difficult (to say the least) so someone recommend I try Reddit! Honestly, I am just looking for someone to chat with during the day or maybe meet up every so often. I work a pretty boring so I have a lot of free time during the days, but once I am home I am in full dad mode and am less available.

A little about me the person, love to read, I read 72 books last year which was an all time high for me. I enjoy being outdoors, running, working out. Also love a good veg-out on the couch and watch trashy reality tv or stand up comedy.

Thanks for taking the time to read this! I know I missed a ton but honestly what do you even write here?

Hi, all!

My wife and I just moved to the Twin Cities a month or so ago, and I’m looking to make some new friends and explore a hobby.

Before we moved, I was casually dipping my fingers into the MTG game through Arena and deck building. None of my friends where we came from expressed interest in MTG, and - to put it simply - the area we lived in was a board game/trading card desert.

I have a few commander decks I’ve built, but I’ve yet to use them. And I’m not confident enough to just walk in and ask to play a game or two.

So I’m looking to step out of my comfort zone, meet some new people, and explore this hobby that Id like to get more involved with.

Any recommendations or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

This is an open invite to join me at the Roseville Dreamers Vault Friday, May 8th to play boardgames. I will arrive around 5:30 and play short games with whoever is there. At 6:30 we will decide what longer games to play. I will grab a table at the back of the left side of the gaming area. I'll have a sign that says "r/twincitiessocial boardgames." You'll know me by my bald head and bushy beard.

I do my best to bring a wide array of boardgames that people who are new will be comfortable with as well as more complex games for people who enjoy a good brain burner. Last week we played Las Vegas and Architects of the West Kingdom. You can check out details on those games at boardgamegeek.com.

Hey everyone,

I’m looking for some accessible rooftops around the Twin Cities area mostly just cool spots with a nice view or chill atmosphere. If you know any places that are open to the public (or at least not super restricted), I’d really appreciate it.

If you’d rather not share publicly, feel free to send me a private message instead. Totally understand wanting to keep certain spots quiet.

Thanks in advance!

Places to socialize - 35M

Trying to get out of my comfort zone and be in more social environments to talk to random people engage in conversation and what not. I live basically in Maple Grove but a hop and skip from BP New Hope and Crystal. Not very similar age demographics.

Wondering where the (not cowboy jacks 😂) bars and such are in like North Loop, downtown, etc. I’m literally going solo so I do have to take that into consideration also.

Hey everyone,

I’m looking for specific apartment recommendations in Minneapolis area. I’m trying to find a place that has a good mix of lifestyle, community, and location.

Ideally, I’d like to be close enough to green spaces for biking and general exercise like the Chain of Lakes, Theodore Wirth Park, river trails, or similar outdoor areas. At the same time, I still want to be reasonably close to lively neighborhoods like North Loop, Northeast, Uptown, Downtown, or other areas with restaurants, bars, events, and things going on.

I’m also hoping to find a building with more of a social/community environment for people in their late 20s and 30s. Somewhere with a fun, friendly vibe where residents actually meet each other through resident events, rooftop/pool/social spaces, fitness areas, game nights, or just a generally outgoing community.

A few things I’m prioritizing:

\- Good maintenance and responsive management
\- Clean, well-kept building
\- Social/community feel for 20s/30s
\- Close to parks, lakes, trails, or biking routes
\- Reasonable access to North Loop, Northeast, Uptown, Downtown, or other lively areas
\- Amenities that help people meet: rooftop, pool, gym, courtyard, club room, events, etc.
\- A building that feels active and friendly

Does anyone have specific apartment buildings they’d recommend based on personal experience? I’d especially appreciate feedback on management, maintenance, resident vibe and whether the community actually feels social.

Also open to buildings or property managers to avoid.

Thanks in advance!

Looking for friends near St Paul

Giving this one more go (please read the whole post, my inbox is always flooded by people who don't read it)

I've been in St Paul for three months, originally from CA. I'm looking for some kind, chill buddies around my age to hang out with, so please be close by.

So a little about me: I love reading, painting, cooking and baking, and a lot more! I’m a bit of a jack of all trades. I enjoy hiking when I have the chance and enjoy nature. For hanging out, I love going out to eat, watching movies, or just relaxing at a cafe. I also love homebody activities like watching TV or a good puzzle. I'm pretty inclusive, and am chill with people of various backgrounds

What about you? I'm 23 so someone between the ages of 20-29. I don't drink or smoke, so I might not be the best friend for someone who mostly does that. But if you're respectful, down to chill or have a cute day out in the town, and have a few hobbies you really care about, I'm sure we can become friends.

If you want to hang out, feel free to DM or comment with a full introduction of yourself! If you want to try to find other people to meet, comment so people know to reach out. I look forward to meeting you!

Group for concerts

Looking for a group to go to concerts with. I mostly go to indie rock, punk, and metal concerts solo since most of my friends are either busy or not into those genres.

Planning to go see Built to Spill this Thursday and at least 1-2 concerts per month.

34m looking for fishing buddy (and guide)

Expat from NZ, grew up drop fishing from boats in the ocean, but looking to pick up a new hobby now it’s sunny out.
Any advice on what gear to get?

Anyone interested in taking someone out and showing them the ropes?

Happy to do simple local (I live in NE by the river), or somewhere further out on a weekend.
Can provide cold beers and mediocre banter 👍
