Any recommendations for haircut spots that specialize in K-pop style/asian hair trendy cuts (for men)?

So my hair is very long. I haven’t had a haircut in maybe 3 years. I want my first cut to be an actually good cut. I’ve been researching for a nice cut and I have something in mind and made a Pinterest board with it.

Can anyone recommend a barber/hairstylist that’s patient enough and that specializes in these “trendy” Asian haircuts? (It’s probably not trendy, I just don’t know how else to describe them lol).

What’s up with the area around Torrance Crossroads area being a dead zone for AT&T? Shows service but nothing works…every time

Maxine Waters is a bit slow on the uptake.

I just received this email from Maxine Waters. It wasn't attached to a thread. It has been so long since I last communicated with her. At that time I was questioning whether she was going to retire or if she had someone she was mentoring. *sigh* I guess this is my answer?

Dear Friend,

Thank you for contacting my office.

As your representative, I welcome your perspective and always value input from my constituents in the 43rd District of California. As I make important legislative decisions, I will make sure to consider your views and opinions. Again, thank you for contacting my office and I appreciate your patience in awaiting a reply.

Best,

Maxine Waters

Candidates who are pro-bike lanes

I really care about cycling and safe cycling infrastructure like protected bike lanes.

Other than David Kartsonis, which candidates will further the cause in Torrance?

Where do Chen and Kalani stand on this?

Having lunch with my sister later in the week. What’s the best spot for Japanese Curry in Torrance? It’s her favorite.

This guy has been going around STEALING people’s landscape plants.

On April 15 at 12:06 AM (the timestamp on the video is 1hr faster), an unidentified individual was captured taking plants and plant cuttings from residential properties. The perpetrator carries a bag and was observed wearing a glove specifically to handle and remove cactus segments.

On a personal note, the segment he stole was a cactus segments that was meticulously groomed for about 4 years. If you have ever grown cacti, you know how long and arduous it is to make shape.

This was not a random act; the perpetrator was prepared with a collection bag and protective gloves. Ughhhh

Police activity at Del Amo Mall today

Went to the mall to pick up my son and was met with police everywhere, yellow tape and everyone asking to vacate the mall. Another planned take over maybe?

Let’s talk biking in Torrance

In this video we’re going to talk about the traffic, our health and safety, and the safety of our children.

Let’s talk biking in Torrance.

Why is this important? At least 6 people in my office could easily ride a bike to work every day - that’s 60 a week. However, there is no reasonable - safe way for me to get from my home in North Torrance to my office in Central Torrance. Take into account trips to and from our schools and this is a serious issue worth resolving.

Over 10 years ago, the City of Torrance adopted the SBBC+ Master Plan. Since then, you may notice that we’ve made almost no real headway in North Torrance. Empty promises to our residents not fulfilled by our city Councilmember. In fact, our Councilmember has voted to make it more difficult and less safe to bike in Torrance, all while not making any headway on infrastructure.

I’m on 182nd which is how many of our North High students get to class. This was identified as a location for a bike lane. It was recently repaved, but the city missed a prime opportunity to make our North High students safer. City Council needs to mandate all new paving jobs and paving RFPs require the SBBC+ be integrated.

We’ve addressed North High, so let’s talk about El Camino College. Torrance needs to do our part in supporting the Redondo Beach Blvd Alternative Transportation Corridor. This project is funded and would make it safer for south bay bikers to get to and from ECC.

Now let’s talk about our kids. I my kids and I recently took a ride with the North Torrance Bike Bus. I had such a great time that I immediately put out a call for others to try it as well! A couple weeks later, I rode with them again, this time my wife Mia, and Torrance Mayor Pro Tem Sharon Kalani joined us. Credit where credit is due, my opponent Jon Kaji accepted his invitation and met us at the finish line with Torrance stickers and his business card.

I LOVE this idea and would like to see it standardized throughout our city. Even going as far as working with our schools to create marked bike bus routes to our schools. Everyone who, like me, lives near one of our schools knows that we should be doing everything in our power to encourage alternate - safe - ways for our students to get to school.

If this is something you think is important, I’m running for City Council to address neglected issues like this. I’d appreciate your support. You can learn more at david4torrance.com

Vons Police Activity?

Just passed by the Vons on Anza Avenue and there were like 8 police cars rushing to park in front of the doors, think I heard more sirens on the way too. Anyone know what’s happening there?

Popcorn ceiling removal and interior paint recommendation

Looking for recommendations

We have popcorn ceilings containing asbestos that we need a quote for removal on. Additionally, we want both the ceilings and walls painted in three separate rooms. Ideally, we’d like the work to be completed within the next 2 to 3 weeks.

Silent Book Club - Torrance's First Writing Workshop!

Join Silent Book Club - Torrance for the launch of our fiction writing workshop series. Our mission for this series is to foster a South Bay writers’ community through sustainable workshops and professional development. We've been flabbergasted by the lack of writing communities in our area. We hope to start a community centered on writing where all are welcome, whether you're an aspiring pro or just write as a hobby. Come meet new people, sharpen your writing skills, and learn how to get published if you book a Tier 2 ticket for Volume 1. Volume 1 and future volumes will be standalone writing workshops meaning: you do not need to have attended previous sessions to join us, and there is no long-term commitment required. Come for one, or come for them all! For this writing series, we are excited to introduce our host, Yimin (Tori) Huang. Learn more about the worldwide Silent Book Club movement here.

Get 5% off when booking either a Tier 1 or 2 ticket! Use discount code "5DAYS" at checkout. The discount code expires April 22nd at midnight. Get your tickets via the QR code on the flyer or here!

In this session, Tori will lead a deep dive into "defamiliarization" - the art of making the familiar feel unfamiliar. She will walk you through on how to describe a familiar setting in an uncanny way using sensory details and then applying what you learned during the workshop. You will receive concise feedback from Tori and the group.

You will be able to purchase Tori's powerful poetry book, Estrangement, on-site at a 10% discount. The book delves into various forms of estrangement from politics, familial, and societal expectations.

We hope to see you there!
