Just wanted to share my experience

I’m around a 22~ handicap and I recently ordered myself the 101 mk2s to try to improve my game. Came in less than a week and i immediately tried them and they are one of the best irons i’ve ever hit. On the second day of me using them, i chunked my 5 iron for the first time and the head snapped clean off and flew into the range. Takomo was great and is replacing my 5 iron but now I have to wait 4-5 weeks for a singular iron.

Order Status

Glad I can be one of the few with positive news to share in this subreddit.

I ordered 101’s with the back ordered midsize grips on Friday and was given an estimated ship date of 2-3 weeks. Checked the order tracker today and was pleasantly surprised that my order will be shipped out by the end of this week.

Just an additional reference for anyone questioning shipping times. To add I’m in the U.S.

101mk2 vs 201mk2

Have been playing for about 4 months now, shooting high 80's to low 90's pretty consistently. Definitely improving quickly with my irons striking. Biggest struggle is my driver / short game which seems to alternate per round. Currently playing with some old acer xv cavity backs, but it's time for an upgrade. Not sure whether to go with the 101mk2's or 201mk2's. I don't want to go 101s and risk growing out of them too fast, but also don't want to go 201's and risk having too little forgiveness. After seeing the strong lofts on the 101s, am leaning towards 201 as my current irons tend to give me a lot (more than wanted) of height. If anyone can speak on how the forgiveness differs between the two and any other advice that would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

As the title says, I have made a warranty claim on a set of faulty 201t’s where I had 2 clubs break in a matter of weeks after arrival, and every ferrule has separated from the club head. The quality control from their new vietnamese factory is rubbish and I have asked to exchange the poorly assembled faulty clubs for a custom set of the original forged 201s. They have told me they will not cover the return costs. I thought thats odd but whatever ill spend the $50 to return them. Sike, they cost $405 to return to Hong Kong from Australia. This is absolute bullshit and is nearly half the cost of the set, and why should I be liable to pay out of pocket to return a faulty item from a manufacturer. I just cant get my head around this and cant afford to pay that out of pocket. I have emailed support and am awaiting a response, but this has been on going for nearly 2 months now and has just left such a horrible taste in my mouth. I really hope they come to their senses and cover the return shipping costs. Has anyone else had an experience like this? Its just been all round horrible.

I did a bit of editing.

So a while ago I had to change my shafts , twice in a pretty short period and I got to thinking 🤔 why not have some fun with these things ...and this is the last touch. Value hunter the whole way, takomo 101Ts, kbs tour lite stiffs , temu ferrules , and the final touch bloody red nail varnish. And I like them ...a lot but what do you guys think ?

Quality issues with Takomos???

Hi all,

I’m seeing a lot of posts on here about people experiencing snapped shafts or broken clubs, is that normal/this frequent?!

I had my heart set on buying a set of 101mk2’s or 201mk2’s soon, however seeing all these posts are making me scared! Are the original 101’s/101t’s having this problem also??

Anyone who can give their experience would be greatly appreciated!

Finally joined the club!

My wife surprised me for my 30th birthday with the set I had been saying I’ve wanted. Played one round with them so far and they are so pure. (I was playing ping blueprints before this) they feel every bit as pure as any premium iron I’ve ever hit. If you’re debating taking the plunge I think it would be worth it! 🍻

Snapped shaft

Ordered some 201 MKIIs about a month ago. Got fitted at a local place for the kbs tour lite shafts with +0.5” so I went with those. Finally showed up on Saturday and I’ve been eager to get them out to try them out.
Tonight was the night. Started my range session like I usually do. Start with wedges, move up the bag. They felt great. I’m coming off a starter set with a few different clubs mixed in as I replaced them with used clubs over the last 3 years. Finally spent the money on a nice set of irons.
First swing with the 4 iron. Snap. The guy next to me, the kid picking up range buckets, and me all stared in awe as my 4 iron flew 30 yards down range. Then we all looked at each other like that spider-man meme. “Hope you have warranty” the guy says. I sure hope so I just got them in the mail, I laughed.
Hopefully takomo does me right and doesn’t screw me out of a 4 iron.

Order was “forgotten”

I know this sub is full of people who have waited a couple weeks but I’d like to share that I’m 10 weeks in (ordered Feb 26) and my order is not complete. They emailed me back two weeks ago to admit that they completely forgot to even start my order. And this week they have stopped replying altogether.

I ordered a set of custom 101 originals, stiff KBS steel, +1”, +3°. In the same order I had some wedges and the free glove. Those came in two weeks. My buddy got 201’s stock, they came in two weeks.

I was fully down to wait the 8 expected weeks but when they told me they forgot… I am definitely starting to see the “pay big money to YouTube influencers but don’t give much of a crap about supporting actual paying customers” model shining through clearly.

I usually dislike complaining like this but since this sub is full of people considering buying, and a lot of people successfully getting orders after a month or two, wanted my experience shown as well.
(Hoping I’m one of those who wakes up tomorrow to clubs at the door even though I’ve not been given an order update or tracking number ha).

Update May 8, 11am: support emailed me that the clubs are currently shipping to the US warehouse, then will ship to me. I can be patient so long as I know it’s moving forward as planned!

Which clubs would you recommend?

Hi all! Looking to finally get my own set of clubs but have been indecisive on which ones to get. If someone who’s more familiar with each versions pros and cons, what would you recommended for someone who’s finally looking to play consistently?Currently I shoot around 120 (Yikes I know)

Order status

Ordered a custom set of 301cb, mid size grips,c taper light shafts and 2d upright.
Estimated time at purchase was 4-6 weeks, it’s been nearly 8 weeks and on this status for 3 weeks.

Anyone ordered similar and can give any info or estimate timeframe? Have emailed them but no response yet. Want to know if I’m in for another 4 weeks or so wait cause of a back order or the demand has been really high.

Cheers

Takomo experience so far…

I ordered the mk201s March 30th tour lite xstiff shaft and mid size grips. The only thing when I ordered that had low stock was the mid size grips. Latest they said it would dispatch would be April 28th. Once April 28th came they said they were out of stock and would dispatch May 6th when the next restock comes in. Contacted customer support to say if it was because of the mid size grips I would just take standard just to get the clubs earlier.

Customer support emailed me within 24 hours and said that it would make it faster but they wouldn’t change the mid size grips cause the order has been “processed” so the mid size grips would stay on. They told me mk201 right handed irons were out of stock and they apologized for the delay and assured me that the clubs would dispatch early may (assuming restock date May 6th) got excited and waited all week to see some type of update or with a tracking number. May 6th came and went checked the order tracker said they are out of stock and now have to wait till May 12th for another restock *sigh*.

3 delayed dates said and I still have no clubs 6 weeks out on a stock order not customized. It’s definitely been an unfortunate experience for me seeing so many good reviews on these clubs. I am eager but this has been a brutal let down. I’d be lucky to see my clubs by Memorial Day weekend. If not June it seems like.

They should be more upfront when ordering the clubs if they were out of stock and they should update their shipping times to be more accurate since I’ve been let down 3 times so far.

I usually don’t want to be negative on reviews either but I’m wondering how others have had experience with this.

Has anyone had a similar experience? Hope the clubs are worth it at this point.

*edit*

Also would like to add. I recommended the mk 101s for my friend he ordered them March 30th as well. His arrived within 2 weeks and have played with him 4 times he absolutely loves them and he has substantially gotten better results from these irons. So I guess I just got the short end of the stick :/

Got the 301 combo set (which I love) but I noticed after 2 or 3 rounds of play I have this chip in the face of my 6i. I didn’t hit any rocks or hit it off the concrete or anything like that. Is this a manufacturing/quality defect? Think they will replace?

Short Shafts on Wedges - BEWARE

Hi all - ordered the new Takomo wedges. Arrived in no time, look, feel and even gripped great. But MAN, I had no idea how short they would be. I'm 6'3" (so tall but not crazy tall), and these feel like Junior Clubs. Had zero idea when I ordered.

Big time bummer. I guess Shafter Extenders or probably just new shafts all together. Should make an option for longer shafts on the website. OUCH!

I’ve said this twice in comments but ordered original 201’s and 52 degree, no customization. Reached out to them last week and they just repeated 3-6 business days to dispatch yet here we are.

Update on backorder and changing shaft

Was able to update my shaft after a slight mistake in my backorder, ordered on may 2 and was told 2-3 weeks, after the update they said timeframe doesn’t change but was told 4-6 weeks doubling the backorder timeframe, just would like some transparency and honesty here, ordered a set of p790 shadow fall as an alternative or backup, but still very interested in these irons, so wait I shall.
Edit: I just read the “may arrive” really gets my confidence going… lol

Lost my Takomo 101 9-iron right as the season's starting. As far as I know, Takomo doesn't sell individual irons, so I'm looking for a solution.

Has anyone had luck finding a single Takomo iron on eBay or elsewhere? And if not, what would be the closest comparable 9-iron from another brand?
