The Early Theatrical Release of Episode 9 Is a Loss for Everyone

Ever since it was revealed that the last episode of TADC will come out two weeks earlier in theaters before getting released on YouTube, there’s been a divide. There are people who are upset about it, and there are people who defend this. The latter are the ones who feel the need to diminish and shame the people upset for feeling the way they do. However, we can all be happy for Glitch for achieving such a feat while feeling discontent due to the whole situation.

Not everyone has an opportunity to watch it in theaters

It is just not possible for every country in the world to have TADC in theaters. Yes, you may refer to the fact that Glitch is trying to reach out to more countries, and that you can contribute by asking your local theaters, but it’s simply not enough. Sure, it might work, but it is not a guarantee. The majority of the countries will not have TADC in theaters. It’s also worth mentioning that TADC isn’t translated into all languages. Thus, countries that did not receive a dub in their native language are automatically disqualified.

As well, even if a country does get TADC in theaters, it’s not a fact that it will be accessible all across the country. Most likely, it will only be available in large cities.

Theater becomes the only ‘correct’ way to watch the episode

You are given an option of either watching the episode in theaters or waiting two weeks while getting spoilt. The last one instantly becomes unappealing, since you will lag behind the people who got to watch it earlier, and because the overall hype will not be as strong. This makes watching it in theaters the only ‘correct’ way to experience it, but this option is absent for a lot of people.

This also clashes with the way many, including me, would like to watch the episode. Theaters can be a unique experience, but they can be far from ideal, especially when it comes to personal preferences. Many would prefer to watch it in the solace of their homes, adjusting the way they watch it. Theaters take away that agency.

Instead of watching it alone or with friends in your house, you will have to share space with strangers. Also, people whose first language isn’t English will have to watch it in their native language. Personally, I prefer to watch it in the original first, and I think there are many like me. And by the time you have finished watching, you will not be able to rewatch it unless you buy another ticket or wait 2 weeks. This is not a way some people would like to experience the finale of their favourite show, but they would either be forced to just so they can avoid spoilers or get denied from even having this option.

Spoilers

Literally every second of the finale will get spoilt. There will be no way to avoid it. YouTube? Twitter? Reddit? Instagram? It will be everywhere. And the thing is, if Glitch manages to premiere the episode in more countries, the amount of spoilers will increase exponentially.

“But leave the internet for 2 weeks,” and why am I forced to change my life just to be able to properly enjoy my favourite show? Two weeks is nothing to sneeze at; it is a very solid period of time. Even if the internet is not used for entertainment, it can very much be vital for someone’s study or job. We literally live in a world where technologies are inseparable, unless you live in the wilderness.

Many people have been invested in the story for years, and the last thing anyone would want is for this story’s finale to get spoilt. The ending of a story is literally one of the most important parts, and if you get a stained experience, it invalidates the viewer’s fascination with the story. People only want to be able to have a proper unspoilt experience, something that will be impossible for those who will have to wait until the 19th of June.

Conclusion

The overall execution is not good. People are rightfully upset at this. There will be people who will be forced to watch the episode in theaters just to avoid spoilers at the cost of their personal enjoyment, and people unable to even get the chance to watch it early, forced to eat up all the spoilers before the YouTube release.

The last thing anyone would want is for the finale of their favourite show to be a subpar experience, and it will be one for many. You are justified in wanting to enjoy it without spoilers. You are justified if you are upset at the fact that others will get to watch your favourite show's finale before you because you are unable to. You are justified in being upset at the company, indie or not.

Do you think the show is going to loop back on itself ?

And also when asked "What happens if Caine dies?" the voice cast for the show brought up the idea that the circus might reboot.

I found out how to solve the theater problem!

Just… put your phone down for a few weeks. Given the states these subs have been in the last few days some of you parasites could use the fresh air.

Did anyone else find this scene a bit disturbing?

I don't see many talking about it as the scene of him and Pomni arguing took the spotlight, but to me THIS one stood out the most. Holy stuff, I knew Jax hated Ragatha but he HATES her. This level of absolute, scathing, burning hatred is kinda disturbing to see. The total whiplash adds to it that this comes after a rather goofy moment. It felt weird. And he kept shooting after he ran out of ammo as if wanting to "kill" her harder or something.

So yeah, anyone else? Jax's sheer hatred for Ragatha is disturbing to me.

I think it’s unfair that everyone is villainizing them and calling them greedy for releasing it to cinemas.

At the end of the day this is their job and they were incredibly lucky that they were able to turn their art into their work, a lot of other artists aren’t able to do that in a way that allows them to live off of what they love. Like this is America and capitalism is a thing, they’re already offering the show for free on YouTube with a 2-week delay. That is way more accommodating than literally any other show or fandom this big ever. Almost everything else is behind a paywall or subscription. I think it’s incredibly privileged that ppl are complaining that yeah they get it free but it’s two weeks late. People are paying for premium access. And I’m not saying people can’t be upset about it and the fact that they’re gonna have to avoid spoilers for two weeks sucks but that’s literally like the norm for most other things. I think people in this fandom have gotten spoiled so now when they have to deal with things the way others in other fandoms have done it feels unfair. I think it’s unfair to demand something for free and for everyone right off the bat. Like at the end of the day it’s gonna be free and available to anyone but like let them have their two weeks? Like any artist would probably kill to have their creation in theatres in multiple parts of the world. I feel like it’s the same with that abstraction song just bcs the person doesn’t sound like pomni, like other fandoms don’t rlly have the privilege of the actual voice actors making the fandom music but everyone has gotten so parasocial that they feel like they are owed for some reason? Idk like it just seems selfish to call them greedy when they’re already gonna release it for free two weeks later which a lot of other shows don’t do. Again, I’m not saying u can’t be you’re that ur gonna have to dodge spoilers bcs yeah that’s super upsetting and inconvenient but j think it’s unfair to villainize them for it

tldr; it’s selfish to call them greedy for releasing it early in theaters when it’s gonna be available for free for everyone anyway after two weeks which a lot of other shows/fandoms don’t do.

Instead of being a toxic fanbase for once why not work to downvote all uncensored spoilers?

If you're planning to see it day 1, be a force for good and help me downvote/report the spoilers on any platform you're on

If you're not able or planning to see it, then do your best to avoid the fandom for 2 weeks because spoilers have always been a thing and even people doing their best it will happen.

This is a normal thing that happens not unique to this show.

But just like, it's a show we got for free of a higher quality than so much we pay for.

We should be celebrating a win for Indie studios, and we should be trying to not be toxic shitheads in general

So just, if you'll see the show in theaters let's do our best to report the people who would ruin it for others

Call your local theater.

Okay I can't believe I have to say this, but assuming this is a young adult audience, some of y'all genuinely act like children.

Glitch has said SO MANY TIMES and many people have said SO MANY TIMES, call your local theater, literally tell them a group of 100 people are interested, and maybe they'll believe you and have it on air.

I hate how people are bashing Glitch just because it's not showing in your area. Did we loose the plot here?

Glitch is not Disney. Call your theater, and move on.
