Servers other than wizden

I've played on wizden for maybe 10h now and want to try something new maybe more MRP or something and I definitely want more content than wizden since it's getting kinda bland what servers would you recommend

My first full ss14 round, accidentally infiltrated syndies as a janitor

So, I just wanted to share my first round, it was super fun. I was a janitor and mostly went around befriending folks, was nice enough that the rat king spared me and let me clean up the blood from his rampage. Then the synies came and blew up a buncha shit, and I, having no clue about the map loadout, walked into the syndies little ship where one of them had died with some deep-red armor on.

On this ship was a robot of some kind behind a door that I got electrified at until the bot guided me to pick up some keycard and open it. This then led to him having to drag me to medbay as I got shocked again, with them very much wanting to kill me since I was carrying a syndie ID in their armor. Honestly don't know why I was spared, but the syndies were never properly dealt with and I got interrogated several times because I had no ID. Also beat up some crystal-crab looking things with a mop. Overall super fun round, will definitely be playing more

Is there a way to make inventory management not feel like ass?

I am a new player and I feel like I can't do anything with the hand/inventory system. I have tried to learn a couple of roles and this by far has been my biggest hurdle. I just physically cannot do what is being asked of me. Anything that involves more than 2 items is impossible. Any advice or keybindings that help?

The last 3 shifts I've played, it's been just - 4k-5k hr players who speed run meta shit with antags and NRP their way to a victory.

CMO mag dumped dead and gibbed within the first 3 minutes and the brain gone forever.

Heretic,16minutes in and then ascending, and is then mass producing chems to have infinite healing.

Saw a newbie ask a question in science, other scientist dude said "dude i'm speedrunning sorry" in pure NRP then to no suprise there's an SSD'd research assistant...

Etc, etc.

What am I missing?

What happened to Goob?

I've only ever used this account to lurk on subreddits that need an account but with Goob being down since yesterday I just gotta ask what exactly happened to it? The servers on my favourite tab show as offline and their website says their domain has expired and its up for sale. Not even the links in their github, except the Patreon, work and their Discord links both say they're expired. Did they forget to pay server expenses or are they dealing with some other financial or legal problem?

Looking for a station that isn't going anywhere? We've got one.

The largest MRP server on SS14. 24/7 staffed. 24/7 populated.
No dead hours. No dead timezones.

On station you'll find:

Brand new achievement system: chase rewards across rounds

Modified round scheduler: built to make every moment come alive

Fleshed-out antag blend: threats designed to play off each other, not stack side by side

TTS voice: roleplay comes alive with our living TTS engine.

Battle mechs. Brighteyes. Xenoborgs. A full surgery system. And so much more...

The mission: Real roleplay. A living community. Stories that come from you.
This shapes every call we make. MRP ruleset, our own corporate law, our own pace.

Hosted in US-East: Whatever timezone, the lights are on. Admins awake. Station alive.

Website: starlight.network
Wiki: wiki.starlight.network

Starlight: Clock in. See what happens.

Am I playing this role right?

Hello! I'm a newer player to SS14 as someone who has been interested in SS13 for a while now. So far, the game has been a lot of fun. Most players have been kind and willing to help a newbie learn while keeping things interesting enough for me to be hooked. However, I am a bit curious about a role I've come to enjoy.

I've jumped between a few servers and have been playing mostly the Roboticist role, if there's ben one. Or Research Assistant until it unlocks. I really enjoy building bots and borgs, or the occasional brain surgery or robotic parts if available. But something just feels off.

I picked up science because there was a lack of them in a server I was on. Someone was kind enough to teach me how to build a borg and I really liked it. But other times the role feels a little useless. I thought people would stop by and ask for cleaning bots or med bots, or I could borrow brains for more cyborgs, but lots of shifts have gone by were all I'm doing is waiting for materials. By the time I get materials, someone is rolling into science (because robotics has a desk directly connected to the main hall for some reason) and using a bunch of mats for something random like strength augments or bots I could totally build for them. There's no requests, no RP, just random people stopping in, making what they want and even doing surgeries on themselves without even acknowledging I'm there.

So I'm curious if I'm doing something wrong. Do I need to start welding doors shut or telling people to scram to let me handle it? Is this a low or mid rp issue and I should look into the high rp servers instead? Is there some other part of Robots that I'm missing?

Any help is appreciated. I am going to hop between some other roles to do learning, but I'd like to know how to improve on one I enjoy already. Thank you!
