Apple TV Continuous Audio Setting

Just a heads up. Not sure when this setting was added to AppleTV. But for a few weeks my tv remote just wouldn’t work when my Apple TV was on. Also my surrounds just stopped working. Everything also reported as being Dolby atmos in the Sonos app. After much troubleshooting, I tried turning this off. And everything works as expected again. If you are having these issues, turn off this feature in the Apple TV settings. It does not play well at all with ur Sonos speakers (and probably your tv too).

Hi-Res Songs (24bit 96kHz+) Falling Back to 24bit 48kHz Rather Than 16bit 44kHz

A month or two back I tested playing Hi-Res songs (24bit 96kHz+) on both Amazon Music Unlimited and Qobuz. Both music platforms would fallback to a 16bit 44kHz versions of the song, as they didn’t have 24bit 48kHz fallback versions available.

After trying out Apple Music for the last month (as it does have 24bit 48kHz fallback versions), I again tested playing Hi-Res songs on Amazon Music Unlimited again, only to find out it is now offering 24bit 48kHz fallback versions instead of just 16bit 44kHz versions.

I‘m assuming this is due to Amazon Music now providing these newer 24bit 48kHz fallback versions but I want to confirm this is true and not something Sonos has changed on their end (which I highly doubt).

To confirm this, can someone using Qobuz please verify if playing a a Hi-Res song (24bit 96kHz+) via Qobuz still downgrades to a 16bit 44kHz song when playing on their Sonos system. Thanks.

Need help with surround Sonos speakers

Hi all, recently got myself a Sonos Beam Gen 2 which now lives under my tv (as sort of seen in photo 1). The issue is I now want to buy 2x Era 300 Speakers or the Era 100s not decided yet to create more immersion when watching shows, series, movies etc.

I have had a good think but don't know where to mount the 2 speakers if I were to buy them. I know you might think surround in a bedroom is a bit pointless but it matters to me. Image 2 is standing at the tv facing where I sit.

The seat / desk chair is where I would watch movies from 90% of the time so would want to focus on that being the "centre" point - which it actually is as it's in the middle of the room.

What would be the best way to mount 2 surround speakers?

TLDR: I am having difficulty deciding where 2 surround speakers (era 100s or 300s) should go in bedroom. Currently have a beam 2nd generation under the TV. Main sitting location is the desk chair (it's comfortable..)

Era 300 Going In & Out

I have 6 SONOS speakers, each configured is its own room. The exceptions are the Arc Ultra and Sub 4 which are in one room. The issue is the Era 300. Sound is very intermittent. It is most noticeable when watching TV. The TV is connected to the Arc+Sub via eARC. The Era 300 is positioned behind the viewing location and when grouped with the Arc+Sub the sound from the Era 300 is constantly dropping and then resuming, dropping and resuming etc. My system is up to date. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have two old play ones and I want to get a sound bar to watch a concert live stream with better audio than just my TV. Will the arc and the two play ones that are stereo paired work?

I doubt it’ll surround sound or the show even is surround sound compatible but it will at least be better than tv audio. Just want to make sure it works before spending the $.

Apple TV issue with Arc, continuous audio setting?

My setup is an Apple TV 4K 2nd generation with Sonos arc, Sub gen 3 and a Sony A80J. I got rid of my receiver setup and got the Sonos setup right when the continuous audio setting came out so I don’t have previous to compare it to. I enabled it as per most posts suggest. I have an issue where sometimes the Arc isn’t turning on. Then i restart everything and it comes on. I also had an issue where sometimes watching content and the audio will drop every 20ish seconds for 2 seconds and then back. I turned the setting off and som far seems to have helped. Is this anyone’s else experience with the setting? I bought my equipment from Sonos refurbished so I’d like to know if it’s defective so i can return it if need be.

Problems Adding New Speaker

Using the Android app, I added a speaker and selected "Office" as the location. (Under "Office", it correctly noted that I already had an Arc and two IKEA speakers.) But when I go to "Settings", I now see the new speaker shown as a new, separate location "Office 1".

I can't figure out what I did wrong or how to cure the problem and some help would be much appreciate from this Sonos novice...

Sonos playbar - rain drops - crackling sound

Sonos playbar was working fine but now it makes crackling sounds that reminds of raindrops on a rooftop. Power cable is not original, if I remove optical cable it still makes this sound. What else to try?

Question for people having issues with Symfonisk

For those of you that are having issues with Symfonisk: are you using any 3rd party software to manage them? Personally, I use Home Assistant and never touch the Sonos app (windows or mobile), and I'm starting to wonder if this is what is killing them somehow.

Playbar Surround/ Rear Options

Hello! Just picked up a playbar from goodwill for 25$ and had been pretty stoked with it! Getting an audio extractor today to pair it with my Apple TV 4K. This Is going to replace my Samsung soundbar and wireless subwoofer. Also adding it to my google assistant for whole home music with various chromecast audios paired to exiting speakers.

This new setup with the playbar would be for tv as well as music in one room

I’d like to get a subwoofer or rear speakers for the setup but I’d rather not spend an arm and a leg for the Sonos ones. I have searched around and haven’t found an answer if I can use a connect gen 2 as a rear? I see people asking about a connect amp, but I’d rather just use a connect and then use this other sound bar + sub for the rear if possible.

The article attached shows using the amp and connect:amp as surround but no mention of the connect. I assume that is my answer?

I’ve also seen the hack idea of taking a play1 or the ikea ones or something and gutting it and attaching it to existing speakers (ie this soundbar and woofer) which is another thought.

Thank you

Front surrounds. What would you do?

My current setup in the tv/gaming room is a Sony XR65A95L feeding into an Arc, Sub 3 and Era 300's for rears. I have been wanting to pull the trigger on Fives for front surrounds but I am second guessing on moving the 300's to the front and buy 100's for the rears. Just wondering if anyone has had the 300's up front and switched to fives and noticed a difference in front stage between the two?

Priority order for upgrades from my current system

Hi all. In my modest "home theater," which is only a 13x13 room, I currently have the following:

-Beam Gen 2

-Sub Mini

-Two Play:1s as rear surrounds

It's definitely solid and functional as a 5.1 system, but with an eye on the horizon for eventual improvements, in what order would you suggest I tackle upgrades and to what kind of speakers? An Arc or upgrading the surrounds to Era 300s seem like maybe good moves but I haven't really been in the market for a few years so not sure what all is recommended, or what would frankly just be overkill for a small space. If it matters, I primarily use it for gaming (PS5 Pro and Switch 2) but of course will watch shows and movies as well. Thanks!
