Anyone else just “exhausted” with the way the AI culture here is?
Before anyone thinks I am an old guy who hates tech, let me disclose that I am a 30-something software engineer who generally likes incorporating tech, including AI, into my day to day use. I have been using AI regularly in my work as well.
However, with the pace that AI is moving, it seems exhausting to simply keep up. It can really feel like not knowing the very latest things causes you to fall behind. By the time you have a good handle on one agent or concept, a brand new one comes that makes what you learned irrelevant because it can do what the previous tool did and way more.
Seeing billboards and ads for AI tools and startups is so tiresome too. It is now one of my least favorite parts of driving in SF, although it is common in the rest of the Bay Area too. Arriving on a flight at SJC, and as soon as you disembark, AI ads on those screens galore.
Perhaps the most exhausting thing for me is about AI companies, startups, and conversations. The whole “AI B2B SaaS” thing is a meme for a reason, and now they are using terms like “SaaS apocalypse“. VC firms, especially A16z, have pushed this hype to breathtaking heights as well. Even going in a quiet nature walk, it is only a matter of time before I hear some conversation that mentions AI. Sometimes it makes me feel, “Do I even deserve to live in the Bay Area if I don’t have my own AI company or AI-driven side hustle“?
Don’t get me wrong, I am glad AI has made a lot of tasks and business ideas much faster and easier to execute. But at the same time, it feels like a sort of “purgatory”, because while AI feels exhausting to keep up with or hear, you also cannot ignore it or it could mean career suicide.
Anyone else feel this way? Or am I being crazy?
8 teams announced new City Connect uni’s today. Why not a new SF road uni based on 1929?

By now we’ve all seen the latest batch of 6 new City Connects for 2026. (BTW: WTAF with KC Royals new caps & batting helmets? A fuchsia to blue gradient? They look like crash test dummies!)

Giants' Road Greys:
A 1929 Throwback with a "SAN FRAN" Twist
Let’s be honest: the long time Giants road greys have always lacked imagination. Cramming a sprawling arc of 12 blocky, sans-serif letters ("SAN FRANCISCO") across a chest just feels uninspired compared to what’s possible.
Here’s a prototype to fix it, drawing heavily on the past.
The Inspiration: (swipe left for legend Mel Ott in his jersey - in 1929, at 20 y.o., batting .328 - hitting 42 home runs & 151 RBIs ). The base of this concept is his legendary 1929 road uniform. We bring back the beautiful, heavy heathered grey ticking flannel look that was common for the Giants in the early 1900’s, plus the distinctive super thin, parallel orange pinstripes, and the complex placket piping.
The "SAN FRAN" Pivot: 👀
Instead of the 12-letter arc, went with a tight, 7-letter "SAN FRAN."
• The History: Seven letters perfectly mirrors the visual weight and placement of the original "NEW YORK" road jerseys.
• The Vibe: It’s an affectionate shorthand (vastly pinstripes superior to the hated "FRISCO"), and it fits perfectly with modern MLB alternate trends (think PHILLY, B’MORE, WISCO, CINCY, D-BACKS, etc.).
The Net Effect: "SAN FRAN" is displayed in the iconic, ornate Gothic serif font. It marries the beautiful, intricate textile work of 1929 with the true, enduring typography and colors of the Giants.
An upgrade over the boring sans-serif 12 letters on dishwater gray. Thoughts?
