The Whiskeytown Austin City Limits randomly showed up on my YouTube feed and I've been listening nonstop for a week now. Strangers Almanac is already in my top 5 albums and may be my favorite album of all time. I like the cardinals alot too. I like the alt country Ryan Adams the best I think
Lots of us can relate to being blocked by DRA
How do we send this to Ryan and also Kurt Vile 😄
Jim E. Brown, Britain’s most tormented 19-year-old obese alcoholic singer-songwriter, released his new album Dirt today. The 15-song collection includes such confessional future classics as “Rock Bottom,” “I Had a Psychotic Episode in a Brighton Travelodge After Meeting Grian from Fontaines D.C.,” “She Said My Face Smelled of Butter,” “Ryan Adams Unfollowed Me on Instagram,” “I Wish I Didn’t Hate Myself,” and sure-to-be holiday hit, “I Received a Blowjob While Watching the Mr. Bean Christmas Special.”
As you might expect coming from the NYT, Ryan did not make the list. To be fair, the list is kinda crap. It has Paul Simon and Bob Dylan but that's pretty close to all it got right.
Logged into my Instagram account today and noticed I was down about 30 followers out of nowhere. I, of course, came on the Reddit and discovered that Instagram is deleting bot accounts and inactives. Bummer but whatever.
That got me to thinking about "our guy" and his bazillion followers. He's down to 975k.
Just thought it was interesting enough to post here.
Still remember buying LIH at Amoeba in San Francisco and having my world changed. Not great video quality but 2003 so… Anybody wanna take me home is still a stone cold classic.
Crazy when I stop to consider how many hours I’ve spent with him musically over 20+ years now. Thanks Ryan! We sure shit on you a lot!
Middle of the night here in Russia.
I'm alone in my apartment. No friends, no girlfriend, no family. I miss all of them like hell, but no one is missing me I guess.
Blasting this masterpiece and crying. Amazing song. Just perfectly beautiful.
Gives me a glimmer of hope that life's still got something for me.
Just wanted to share.
God bless you all.
Being completely honest I’ve listened to the first two tracks of this record which is strange for me as a long time fan and him being my ultimate artist.
I’ve not listened to anything from him since the Australia tour and his behaviours which I know have always been shitty but seeing it right in front of you changed something for me.
I’m a seperate the art from the artist kind of guy but the songs somehow sound different now
I’ve really enjoyed his silence and with the release of The Suicide Handbook, one of my favourite albums getting an official release has got me intrigued so thinking I’ll give Self Portrait a spin as I’ve a completist
Anyway, does anyone have any back story on any of these tracks, are any of them actually newly recorded? Have any of the tracks appeared elsewhere? Also what track standout to you?
Also with TSH release - do you guys think it’s gonna be a rework? Or just what we hear on you tube?
Hey dudes,
Per the subject, someone a while back dropped in here the BBC4 Cardinals gig (which has been on YouTube for 17 years - fuck, we getting old!), but it was as one video and the quality was very good, like 720p if I had to guess, waaaaay better than the 240p clips that are out there at present.
Anyone got this they can link me too?
Thanks y'all🙏
