Been shooting a GR IIIx for a while and I keep hitting the same friction points around recipes. Curious how the rest of you handle it — I suspect workflows vary way more than the YouTube tutorials suggest.
A few questions, pick whichever one resonates (or answer all):
1. Reference-matching. When you see a photo on Instagram, a film still, or on someone's blog and you want to shoot in that style — what's your actual process? Search YouTube for "X recipe"? Eyeball the contrast/WB and tweak from scratch? Skip it because it's not worth the time?
2. Paid recipes. Have you ever bought a recipe pack or PDF from a creator? If yes — what made you pull the trigger on that person's pack vs. all the free ones out there? If no — what's stopped you?
3. Slot management. The GR gives you U1/U2/U3 (Custom 1/2/3 on the IV). If you've got more than 3 looks you genuinely love, how do you decide what stays loaded? Re-type recipes in the field? Keep notes on your phone? Just accept you'll lose access to half your favorites?
And the catch-all: what's the most annoying part of the whole recipe workflow for you — the "someone should fix this" thing that no one has?
Not trying to sell anything, just curious how others approach this before I assume my own friction points are universal. Happy to summarize back if there's interesting consensus.
GR III / IIIx / IIIx HDF / IV — all of you.
I love this camera. Small enough to put away and whip out when something cool happens. And can’t deny the colors and quality
