RG DS thermal solution
It is very effective.
When I displayed a CPU temperature monitoring app as an overlay, I noticed a difference of up to 30°C (80→50).
For reference, the temperature rises significantly when running RPG MV/MZ games via JoiPlay.
Am I screwed?
I got a new RG DS, but the bottom screen seems a little sensitive? It's subtle so it doesn't show up on camera, but when doing some presses around it with the included stylus the edges get a little bright like I'm pressing too hard. Is this just something I should be careful with and normal, or is this unexpected behavior?
Also, I am charging using my laptop's USB port, hope that's not unsafe for it long-term.
I finished dyeing my RGDS!
I like how the top and thumbsticks turned out but i may re-dye a couple buttons and the backplate to be more darker.
Part of the charm of having retro devices is customizing 💕
[device is RG DS]
That said, I haven't tinkered much with GammaOS' default gaming launcher. Cocoon seems cuter overall, but if I don't reign myself in I'll spend all my gaming time tinkering.
Currently playing through Style Savvy.
No plans to try Rocknix anytime soon, as I'm using a couple of Android features at the moment.
Dyed my RgDs’s buttons without breaking anything, I’m gonna do the outside part of the shell this weekend. 😶👍
I thought it it’d be like a solid color but it kinda looks like an easter egg
RG DS Bingo card! Can you get BINGO in the least number of games?
Hello!
I made a version of this bingo card when there was a RG DS channel in Anbernic's server (there still might be one, but I left the server a loooong time ago), back when the device had first leaked and then officially announced. It's been a while since then, lots has happened, but now that we've got the thing in our hands, why not bring this back?
This is a fun first bingo, which means that you'll fill it in whatever manner suits you best: feel free to try one game per square, or use one game to mark as many squares as you think it would apply to.
You're encouraged to mark squares and share your progress as you do, if you'd like! Some squares require you to get a recommendation, so here's mine to get you started.
For these squares...
- A fan translated game
- A purely touch screen or vertical game
- A game recommended by another Reddit user
... You can try Nanashi no Geemu/The Nameless Game! Has a pretty impressive fan translation patch, more than 50% of the playtime is dedicated to vertical sections and, well, I recommend it! I know it says 'purely' but let's bend our arm a little, the main thing is, again, to have fun!
Alisia Dragon Mega Drive one of my favorites.
Mainstream Retro Gaming Callout 👌🙏
Big up Australia for highlightinvg this 😁😊 i feel less of being called for playing my childhood games being an adult while me entering 30s last year...
My Two RG DS first impressions
So my two RG DS consoles have arrived , Teal one ordered from Ali express (definitely faster) and my white one ordered from Anbernic Directly.
Ali unit arrived sealed in plastic wrap , the Anbernic unit was not sealed , also side note the white unit came with a couple black smudge marks on it , which wiped off easy.
First impressions
- Teal unit is glossy , white unit is matte
- Both units have sturdy hinges and don’t make noise like others have noted.
- Build quality seems good , I think I do prefer the glossy finish as it doesn’t come off as cheap compared to the matte white I have.
- Buttons , dpad and shoulder buttons all seem nice.
- Analog sticks straight up suck , thankfully I don’t really plan on using them much.
Diner Dash on RG DS (GammaOS)
One of my absolute faves, lost my save when I flashed GammaOS because I decided to not do a back up, so it's more like I threw the save away. Oh well, it's super replayable so no issue there!
No input delay felt when playing on GammaOS' built in version or Drastic.

youtu.beMy teenage retro gamer kid tells me this is cursed.
I could have fired up one of my 3D printers and made a grip but I'm digging this more.
