Raw vocal cover of My Way with no effects, just trying to do it justice

I've always loved this song but it’s honestly intimidating to sing.

Tried to keep it raw with no effects, just wanted to see how it comes across.

i need tips !!

hi! singing is my biggest passion and always has been. i’ve only done about a year of private vocal coaching back when i was 14 (20 now) and would like some advice on how i could fix tension in my voice.

most of the time im able to ease tension and strain, but i do go through periods where i just can’t find the proper healthy placement to allow my voice to sustain a supported higher note (especially as im an alto and my voice naturally rests lower).

this vid was recorded through one of those times where i felt my voice was unsupported, and i genuinely was really struggling 🥲. i feel embarrassed to post this, but i do know that it would be beneficial to ask for help so i can work on this issue.

i have a habit of holding a lot of tension in my tongue, which has frustrated me so deeply over the years. if you have any tips to share on fixing that please let me know!!!!

Would I be able to improve my singing with training, or should I not bother?

I am a decent musician but want to learn how to sing as well. I have zero experience/training, and while I know that some people can get better with practice, that's not true for everyone. I know I obviously suck, but do I have the potential to get better? Any feedback/criticism is very welcome but please don't be too mean lol.

Improving my Singing, Recording 1

Repost (learned to screen record)

Hi Reddit! Im finally deciding to record my voice and actually listen to it and improve. While I don’t think it’s bad, it is different from how I hear myself. I grew up on karaoke and I was never able to develop my own voice since I tend to imitate. I can hit relatively high notes for male but they aren’t stable and tend to have too much vibrato. I have so many bad habits that have been reinforced for more than 20years. Ill be posting more voice records as I try to improve.

Please be kind but honest and critical. I can take critique !!

I have always wanted to be a good singer but I feel like there is just something missing and I am not sure what is is

I have worked on breath support and control, and try to use resonance, but I still feel like something is wrong. I have heard professional singers, and they sound less leaky and more friendly and angelic. I have tried lip trills and can do those well, so I am not sure why I sound like this. Does anyone have any tips to sound more professional and prettier?

Would love feedback on vocals :-)

Just thought I’d try and give some raw vocals and see if I can get some serious feedback. I want to sing for my job’s talent night and I wanna impress people who don’t really know I sing as a hobby lol.

How to get rid of this rattle/vocal fry when singing?

The only thing that helps is when I clear my throat but then i’d have to interrupt my singing

I don’t even know if you’d consider it a vocal fry, when talking i naturally have vocal fry but this feels more like a build up saliva and the vibration from me singing makes it rattle/bubble if that makes sense.

Also if there’s any other area for improvement please let me know!

Try to sing Lacy by Olivia Rodrigo

I really would love to hear you guys‘s feedback on my singing video

My biggest dream is to be a singer someday, but I have never gotten any lessons before and I’m too scared to show myself or show the way that I’m singing

So I thought it was a good idea to start here without showing anything so I could get some feedback

Thank you 🌺

I covered Bring me the Horizon - Doomed, help me improve!

For a lot of people in the metal community it feels obvious to say that I've been inspired by the video by Maphra. She's amazing. I felt I had some similar vocal techniques and wanted to try some of the things she did. I am also trying to learn how to use a DAW better as it's always been other people producing my voice. Any tips and tricks on that are mayorly appreciated!

This is a vocal cover for fun. I'm going to use this cover as a "before" version and will do an "after" as I think there's much I can learn from this. I wasn't paying too much attention to what I was doing wrong at the time so it got very intuitive - which gives me a lot of hints on things I could do better as a vocalist. As this subreddit is about singing I'd really love to hear what I could improve. Fun stuff!
