Has anyone installed a Blow-Off Valve (BOV) on their Ranger (specifically 2.3 EcoBoost / PHEV)?
Hey everyone!
I’m seriously considering adding a Blow-Off Valve to my Ranger. I have the new PHEV version (2.3 EcoBoost) and I’m really missing that classic turbo "swoosh" sound when letting off the gas.
However, I have some concerns about how the electronics and the hybrid system will handle it. Since the factory bypass valve recirculates the air, I’m worried that venting it to the atmosphere with a BOV might confuse the sensors, throw a Check Engine light, or cause the engine to run rich/lean.
Has anyone here done this mod on their 2.3 EcoBoost Ranger (or specifically the PHEV)?
• Which BOV kit did you use (Turbosmart, Boomba, etc.)?
• Did you run into any check engine lights or drivability issues?
• How does it sound in real life?
Any advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
