Plumbers with well experience

I've searched the recent posts here but can't find specifically what I'm looking for. We live in Wake County outside of city limits (North Raleigh near the WF/Durham lines near 98). We have our own personal well on our property, not through Aqua or something. Our water pressure sucks. Can't run multiple things at a time. Barely a trickle comes out when washing your hands after flushing, etc. Do I just need a regular plumber? A well specialist? We bought this house and moved in around Christmas and need to get someone out here, just not sure where to start. Does anyone have any recommendations or thoughts about what to do first?

Wildlife rehabber in the area who takes bats?

We found a baby bat in our home early this morning along with (presumably) its mother clinging to our bedroom curtains. We were able to open the window and mom flew out, but baby was left behind. My husband was able to (carefully, with leather gloves) get her into a safe shaded space on our 2nd story window ledge, but she hasn’t moved in hours. Not sure what to do at this point. Wildlife Welfare does not accept bats. I also tried the NCWRC locator, and the only wildlife rehabber in the area who accepts rabies carriers said she wasn’t able to take any more critters at the moment. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Want to add- yes, husband and I are both getting the prophylactic vaccine course starting today since they were both in our bedroom while we were sleeping :)

Reason behind “No Right On Red” signs around town

Relatively new to Raleigh and was curious why almost every intersection in the city has a “No Right On Red” sign.

Was wondering if there was a story behind it? Often times I’m the only one at an intersection waiting for the light to turn just so I can take a right. Doesn’t feel as efficient, perhaps it’s to ease rush hour traffic is my guess?

Missed connection at dog park in Cary

Long shot, but yesterday after touring an apartment near Cary, I briefly talked to a resident at the dog park who was playing with his German Shepherd. You were really nice, and I realized afterward that I forgot to ask for your number.

If you happen to see this, feel free to message me.

Issues with Leith Mercedes, Leith Volkswagen, & Holman Automotive: Fraud Suspected

Has anyone had issues with Leith Volkswagen of Cary, Leith Mercedes of Cary, and / or Holman Automotive in and around the Triangle? This includes Raleigh, Durham, Cary, or other neighboring cities in North Carolina.

My fiancee and I have had numerous issues with the sale of our vehicle recently and we suspect Leith Dealerships (owned by Holman Automotive parent company) of fraudulent behaviors against their customers. We plan on compiling evidence to, at the very least, publish news articles with WRAL or other local publishers altering local consumers of our experience, or bringing legal action against the parent company.

I will share more details of our specific soon, but I wanted to start crowd sourcing experiences from locals dealing with or related to:
- Severely delayed payments from Leith / Holman on the sale of your vehicle
- Severely delayed reimbursements, refunds, or payments owed from Leith / Holman when a service plan was cancelled before plan start date
- Lack of communication or responsiveness from sales personnel, finance managers, and / or general management
- Lack of compensation or reimbursement for faults on or delays in payment from Leith / Holman to you / end customer

There is strength in numbers and if anyone feels comfortable sharing their story, my fiancee and I would really appreciate holding Leith / Holman accountable for their reprehensible treatment of Triangle customers.

Looking for consignment or otherwise shops to sell my hand dyed yarn in locally.

Hi all! I own a hand dyed yarn business but had to close it down for a few years to focus on my kids and helping with their homework. I'm now ready to open back up, I used to sell in a couple pretty local stores, one in Durham, but both have since closed. If anyone knows of any local shops that may be a good fit I would be eternally grateful.

Looking for a local in-person TTRPG group

Hey y'all. Long-time D&D player and forever-DM here. Im looking to join a new or existing campaign of D&D. I also have a couple of other TTRPGs on hand (Daggerheart and Draw Steel), though im far less experienced in playing in those systems.

I've got a 2 year old, so my free time is very limited. Ideally we would play 2-3 times a month on the weekends for a few hours.

If you have a spot at your table for one more, I'd like to chat more and see if I'd be a good fit for your playgroup. DM me or post here and let me know!

Recommendations for a dietitian that will talk about weight loss?

I've seen a few dietitians now and all of them seem very touchy about me wanting to lose a bit of weight, most of them would not even discuss the topic with me. I have a history of disorder eating and have weighed both very little and a lot and am seeking to both work on my relationship with food AND how to lose weight in a healthier way without extreme dieting or restrictions.

Everybody that I've seen recommended always lists "health at every size" and "intuitive eating" as their methods. As a person with chronic illnesses that are exacerbated by a higher weight and a neurodivergent person that has trouble understanding how to eat intuitively, these methods just don't work for me and I'm kind of at my wits end here!

Is a dietitian even the person to seek for this? Should I look for a different specialist? I thought a dietitian would be the one to see but more and more it's seeming like that is not the case.

Wake County School - EOG (end of grade) test: “Guidance for Retesting” — would like help understanding

My 3d grader is in a Wake country public school - and has come home with a letter that talks about the EOG tests, which are coming up in a week or two.

His test scores are generally good. (Over 70% for both reading and maths)

The text in the letter (see pic, and also cut/paste of the wording below) is somewhat confusing to me. He will almost certainly score above 35%.

“Scores above 35% correct: If your child scores above 35% correct on the assessments listed above, we recommend that you consider opting them in to retake the EOG. Retakes can significantly increase the number of students who demonstrate proficiency.”

My question: Why is there a push to retake regardless of the score. I understand why a child with challenges may benefit from a second chance. But I’m not clear why they suggest all kids over 35% also retake? Is there a true benefit to the child? Or is there a behind the scene issue with school scores/funding etc. that is incentivizing the schools to “get better scores”. Am I just a skeptic who needs to switch to decaf ?

Any guidance is welcome, particularly from anyone inside the public school system.

Thank you

Off leash dogs all over

What is up with people letting their dogs off leash these days? I go for walks with my dog and I see people “training” their dogs without a leash and they act surprised when they run off at the sight of another dog. I’ve had dogs run up to me when running. People outside doing yard work with a dog unleashed in the front yard.

Dogs are not a thing, they have brains and will do what they want. It’s not nearly as well trained as you think.
