I FINALLY got blue snowflake!

While I still believe I paid too much, I have been looking at estate sales and hiding them behind my husband's back! He thinks that this is an unnecessary obsession! But I honestly feel that once I finish my early americanas set I will be happy. Until I see a pink Daisy or Pink gooseberry LOL!

New to collecting, is this the good stuff?

Hi I’m new to collecting and I’m the market for mixing bowls with lids and am wondering if any of you seasoned folks know if this would be a good buy at $70. I’ve run through so much Pyrex the last few years and had an instance of it self combusting while put away due to internal cracks, so that got me into looking for vintage pieces made of better materials that will hopefully last longer. I’m confused because this packaging is lowercase pyrex but from the early 90’s. It’s unclear to me if it’s made of soda-lime or the tougher borosilicate glass.

My main uses will be mixing, refrigerating dough and taking them out to warm to room temp. I don’t plan to bake with these or even microwave them. I know it seems like a silly question but I appreciate any knowledgable feedback!

What is happening to this pyrex? Is it safe to use?

This pyrex measuring cup is completely clean, just freshly taken out of the dishwasher. I also use in in the microwave sometimes. Have had it for many years, to my knowledge. Seems like a coating is coming off, but what is it and why?

The bottom of the cup says "516, T.M.REG, PYREX (all capital letters), U.S.PAT.OFF., C -S, for general household and photographic use only"

ETA: Deep cleaned my dishwasher last month. Whatever is happening to the Pyrex doesn't wash off with bar keeper's friend, which usually works great on soap scum for other items. I've tried to hand wash it with BKF without any of it coming off. Scrubbing and soaking with vinegar also doesn't work. And no other dishes show any sign of soap scum.

Thanks in advance for any insight!

ANSWER: just etching damage caused by putting in the dishwasher & it is safe to use. Yay!

Vintage milk glass Pyrex

Found these at a local thrift store in my area (Richmond Va). Almost a full dinner-set of 1950s/60s turquoise Pyrex milk glass. Under $20 for the lot💅
