I needed longer bolts, so I took one of the OEM bolts to Lowes and matched it with M8 bolts.

They fit fine in the wall sockets but when I try to screw one into a floor socket, it acts like the thread is wrong. They will go in a ways but I can tell if I force it, I am messing up the socket bolt or both.

The same OEM bolt fits fine in both sockets. It's kind of blowing my mind The only thing I can figure is the OEM bolt is a hair undersized and allows enough slop to fit either.

Has anyone experienced this and/or do you have a bolt size that works?

I want to set up trickle charger for my Promaster.. My van will be sealth parked for a few months. I want to charge from the interior using my solar battery generator. So far all the setups that I've seen has talked about using the post under the hood. Please advise on how I can do it from the battery under the seat if possible.
