Turns out following the money actually works.
I initiated a withdrawal to my Apple Cash card through Apple Pay, which is currently in a pending status for up to 4 business days. Apparently, Apple Cash cannot receive deposits in this way, so I’m not sure what will happen to my withdrawal. Support are not getting back to me
