I always said if I got a WRB WRX I would have gold wheels. Got the Carbon Gold kit from DYC and am blown away by the results. Took my time to clean EVERYTHING following the instructions. 4 dust coats and 3 wet coats of basic black, followed by 4 coats of Carbon Gold. Hopefully it lasts the advertised 3-5 years.

New to us car. Pretty sure I know the answer to this- But, before I just start using stuff to try and get it off, does this look like a plastidip job on the wheels? I like the look. But, it's starting to come off. Thanks.

Hey everyone, I’m planning a HyperDip chrome blackout project on my 2013 CR-V and could use some advice before I start.

One thing I’m stuck on is color choice. I’m debating between Shadow Black and Frozen Black, but I’m not sure which would look better with my setup. The front grille has some matte plastic elements, while the rear has more gloss plastic surrounding the chrome trim, so I’m trying to figure out which finish would blend best overall.

I’ve included photos of both the front grille and the rear hatch chrome, as well as a few AI-generated inspiration pics to give an idea of the look I’m going for.

For those of you who’ve done similar projects:

  • Does Shadow Black or Frozen Black look better when you’re dealing with a mix of matte and gloss plastics? Or should I just cover all of both surfaces ?
  • Will one of them clash more with the existing trim?
  • Any regrets or things you’d do differently after your blackout?

Appreciate any input, pics, or tips before I commit!
