Pop-Up Show Speculation (Weds 12th)

Discussion about where you think she will play next etc. A new thread will be posted daily to keep information fresh.

Separate threads asking if she will play X city or country will be removed.

Please do not harass venues for information trying to get the inside scoop. It reflects badly on all of us. Also don’t be weird and follow the tour bus - absolutely not ok.

And another reminder that no audio/video leaks are allowed as per Phoebe’s request.

What we know so far / FAQs

* Flyers have been handed out on campuses, at coffee shops, and record shops from about 10:30am for same day shows.
* Venue capacity is about 400.
* Tickets will sell out very quickly. If you’re more than an hour away, you are unlikely to be successful.
* Tickets priced at $50 + taxes
* Your wristband is your ticket.
* One ticket per person.
* You must be there in person to collect your wristband. No exceptions.

New Songs

Went to the Memphis show tonight and this is what I remember about the new songs. I have an awful memory and this is mostly just random shit I remember but I hope it’s at least kinda interesting
1- Probably called Lost Boy, would be my choice for the lead single. Very catchy chorus with a quiet bridge that builds into ending on the chorus
2- Says “California Sober”
3- 2 harmonica solos, cool synth
4- “I fought the wall and the wall won”- Bobby Fuller reference probably
LOTS of harmonica. Like on 5 of the 6 songs. They are still mostly sad and a similar vibe though so don’t worry. Also I didn’t hear any of those depressing song endings like on Funeral, Sidelines, Demi Moore, Revolution 0

Lubbock Show Recap

I have posted comments and answered questions across a few threads, but I wanted to compile a full recap of my experience at the Lubbock, TX show for anyone interested.

Announcement of Show
I only found out about the show because I happened to be at a local coffee shop around 10 AM when promoters were out handing out flyers. I literally thought, "Cute! A local theater production is handing out flyers," before fully processing what the promoter said to me. From the conversations I had with people at the show, they were handing out materials and posting flyers at all of the local coffee spots, some of the more popular chains (ie, 7Brew, Dutch Bros), and the university library. The other common thing I heard was, "A friend called me." If you haven't already, it might be a good time to make your friends aware you like Phoebe Bridgers' music.

Wristbands
I saw people leave to line up immediately after receiving flyers. I had a hair appointment at 11 AM, so that wasn't an option for me. I did, however, drive my butt to the venue at noon while my color was processing to get a wristband. I pulled up around 12:10 PM, and the line had cleared to less than half a block. I spent maybe five minutes in line before I got my wristband, #124. The wristband is your access to buy a ticket at the door before the show. They were very clear: any evidence of tampering with the wristband would result in you being turned away at the door. I'm glad I was chatting with the folks around me while getting my wristband, because I ended up spending the hour before doors opened with them, as you line up based on the number on your wristband.

I also want to note that they "oversold" the wristbands by maybe 50ish more seats than the venue could fit. This isn't uncommon for these types of events; you have to plan for some people not to show up. Because of this, they were pretty strict about turning folks away from the line-up who didn't have wristbands before the show.

Pre-Show
The line opened at 5 PM, with doors at 6 PM. Everyone did their best to follow the tour staff's guidance and line up accordingly. There was some weird clustering, but my experience was that everyone was kind and genuinely trying to honor the number system.

At 6 PM they started processing people through the ticket and security lines. They were pre-checking ID's, since the venue sold alcohol. The show itself was all ages; I saw young kids with their parents and plenty of high schoolers. Tickets were $50 + taxes ($55 here in Lubbock), they were taking cards and cash, but were strict about no Apple Pay. After you paid, you got another wristband, locked your phone and any devices into a Yonder pouch. Security was a metal detector, wanding, and a thorough inspection of any bags. They opened every zipper compartment, making sure no recording devices or writing utensils made it through.

Once we got inside the venue, the ushers (local venue staff and volunteers) encouraged everyone to get a seat before joining the concession and merch lines. Ushers were seating groups on a first-come, first-served basis, filling from the front to the back of the auditorium. They did allow people to save seats for their group.

Merch
There is one tour-specific hoodie ($65), one local tour-specific tee ($40), one general tour-specific tee ($40), a ghost merch tee we've seen before ($40), plus vinyls and CDs ($15-25). All of the apparel merch was designed for black lights and showcased under a black light at the merch stand. There was no limit for merch. The local tour-specific tee was the first to go; popular sizes were sold out within the first 30 minutes, and the design was sold out completely around the one-hour mark (all times are estimates because once phones were locked away, we were relying on the venue's thermostat and one guy who wore a watch to know the time). They did their best to clear the merch line before the show started, but it reopened afterward.

Stage
A drawing of the stage has been posted, and it was really accurate. In the background, there are three neon "posters" with alien/space motifs and a vintage tube television. There are lamps and small side tables that hold lava lamps, mugs, candles, and incense scattered across the stage. The main feature is a couch set on the center stage, with a crochet blanket folded across the back. In front of the couch, there was a small coffee table with a Mellotron keyboard. To the left of the couch was a full keyboard set up. A few minutes before the show, the crew came out with mugs, lit the candles (most notably, a basic Diptyque candle), and lit incense.

Two features I LOVED with the stage design. Every single light on the stage, including the lava lamps, was responsive to the music at times. The stage hummed alongside the audience in a way. Black light was a central feature of the show; many of the mundane items on the stage looked sick under the lights. That includes Phoebe's hair; not sure if it was because of the platinum blonde or because she had UV paint in her hair. I couldn't see the TV during the show, but afterward it said "The end is here," with a left-facing arrow.

Community
My favorite part of this show was the people. I ended up going to the concert alone, but never once felt lonely. Everyone was so kind from the line outside to the concession and merch line. I had wonderful conversations with people who happened to be at the same coffee shop as me that morning. I attribute that largely to the yonder bags. Not having our phones meant the entire venue was buzzing with conversation in a way I haven't seen at a concert in a LONG time.

The Show
Phoebe came on around 8:15-8:30 and opened solo with Motion Sickness. After, Nick White, on keyboard, and Christian Lee Hutson, on guitar and harmonica, joined her for the rest of the set. I won't recount the full set list or much of the new songs. However, Phoebe thanked the audience for our willingness to lock away our phones since playing new music can be scary, and often the first time she plays something ends up being the most circulated, that fact was embarrassing for her. She shared a story behind The Funeral and mostly had polite banter about Mother's Day and how planning the tour around finals was just a side effect of her being so bad in school. The general vibes of the new music are sad and bittersweet (shocker), but we did hear a more upbeat, country-adjacent song.

At one point, it sounded like there was a drum and a high hat being played offstage. I could see Phoebe laughing at someone in the wings as that came in, but I couldn't tell if there was someone else actually playing offstage. Jackson Bridgers was filming the show on a handheld camcorder throughout, and also filmed interviews with people after the show.

The audience sat the entire time, except to stand when Phoebe came on stage and finished the last song, I Know the End. There was soft humming, plenty of sniffles and sobs, but no singing along until the last song.

Post Show
Phoebe greeted and signed (one item) for every single person. She sat on the end of the stage and brought her own Sharpies (since you couldn't bring in writing utensils). Security did their best to funnel people in an orderly fashion. This was the only point of the whole experience where I saw squabbles, with people pushing up on the line and perceived cutting. She stayed until the very last person, so pack your patience and make sure to pick up merch for her to sign! At the Roswell show, she signed a lot of money and shared that she hated that after touching so many dollar bills. She explicitly said she wasn't signing money and likely wouldn't going forward.

The Yonder pouches were unlocked upon leaving the venue, so no photos in the greeting line. The Yonder staff explicitly told me that the photo cards were part of the new album cover. I'll be excited to see the new pieces as they come out along the secret tour route.

Memphis line at capacity

I got here at 10:50 and this is where I am. Staff just came by and informed us of the line at capacity. There’s a 50/50 section of the line for those who may or may not get a ticket. Sorry to those who are unable to make it!

Little Rock Pop-Up

I managed to get into the pop-up concert last night! I don't want to share too much out of respect for Phoebe. She specifically thanked us (and all previous pop-up goers) for being respectful and not leaking any of her new art. She said that she will continue to play new music if we continue to be respectful and let her release things when she chooses. She stayed behind and signed things/hugged fans. There was no mention of a new album release or anything, but her new songs are definitely worth the wait, imo.

She also said, "I just want a president who can drive at night", which was too funny not to include in this post.

If anyone has any questions about the show I will answer as I can in a way that feels like it's not spoiling the experience/disrespecting PB.

[I'm newer to reddit so if this breaks any rules just lmk and I will correct the post accordingly:) ]
