When you first saw Outlast did you actually play the game or did you watch someone's walkthrough?

I first found out about the game through a friend of mine back in the summer of 2016 and he was telling me to check it out. I didn't play the game myself when I first checked out but I instead watched dlive22891 play it. I never really got scared at any of the parts and was mostly laughing at dlive's reactions to the jumpscares. I don't get scared easily and even watching those videos now is a bit funny too. Except for the eighth episode titled *Holy FUCK!* IT'S THE WALRIDER! which got taken down by YouTube shortly after I watched the episodes, (I know that video was still up because I remember skimming through dlive playing the courtyard chapter. It also means his reaction to the walrider jumpscare in the Courtyard is lost)

I would sometimes have my heart racing at the tense parts such as the sewers and Trager's part, (I was a bit grossed out when i first saw it too). I was a little upset at the ending and I was like "Are you kidding, you die at the end anyway!" but I still liked the scary atmosphere to it.

I did find out about Whistleblower a month later and since dlive never posted a walkthrough of that one, I watched Markiplier's playthrough of it. I also really enjoyed Whistleblower and it does kind of help with the original's ending in making it an amazing game. I find Outlast 1 and Whistleblower to go together in a way.

What was you guy's expirences with this game. Did you watch/play it when it first came out or were you late like I was.

How outlast II made history

Hi.

Just wanna hop in and say how much outlast II is superior to the previous games.

While people who have regular taste do enjoy outlast, they most probably are unable to fathom the fiber of II. This game is so much more - it expanded the lore, gave atmosphere, depth, art and that x factor to the franchise. outlast II is one of those games that are impossible to redo. I love how atmospheric and original the space feels. I love the contrast between two settings that works - unlike the dual game design of re9. The only thing that the game left unanswered is… everything.

Until today tot is based on outlast II. I believe the game started as an idea that was about II. I can treat it as additional content, since the game is a prequel to II essentially. I wonder if people would appreciate a bold third game, you know since people go clout and trend like ok lets do mental asylum and monsters at night, and only seldom allow to jump into something more tremendous, which is funny.

Tell me why you don’t like outlast II and just stan 1. The movie is about mount massive so probably next year, but god bless the writer is JT. Do you think the next game will start something completely new like II or pick up 1 or 2 story? I think they will go new with maybe a little bit of mention. We’re not alone here

Played this and shortly got very sick

I've always been a huge horror fan, I've seen gore and blood before, I've been exposed to real gore videos and p0rn since I was unfortunately very young.

Honestly did research on this game and thought it looked interesting. I had seen some clips but none really indepth, or showing the real executions and I didn't want to spoil the gameplay for myself!

I decided why not try it out, I could always quit if I didn't like it. So I started playing and the first cutscene was disturbing but wasn't anything new to me. But as I continued playing, I started feeling oddly really ill.

I'm on anti anxiety and antidepressants but it's never really been an issue with horror and gore for me.

As the gameplay went on, and I got to the executions, I was sweating and it was getting pretty hard to breathe. The screaming was getting stuck in my head and even though I knew it was just acting, I was getting pretty upset.

I actually stopped to take a break but when I returned, everything just came back to me. When I got to the judge, I couldn't breathe again and the deviant, I had to just quit the game. I couldn't see straight, I was retching and honestly I don't know why it affected me so much.

I like the story, it's an extremely interesting idea but for some reason I can't stand the execution (no pun intended). The lore is fascinating but the gore haunts me.

I pretty much ran to the bathroom and spent the next 10 minutes just purging. I've never had nightmares like the ones I had about the outlast trials. I've always been used to gore and intense scenes like that but for some reason, this game completely sent me into a panic.

I feel thick throated and lightheaded whenever I see those scenes now. the muffled gasping for air from the deviant and the pleas and screams make me gag all over again. The judge was probably the worst one for me. I couldn't really move, my vision gets all blurry and my skin feels thick and heavy.

I don't know exactly why I felt the need to type this all but I guess I just wanted to know what other people felt and why this hit me so hard. I've definitely seen a post before about the opening scene and a panic attack but that's not the part that got me though I definitely relate now with that person.

For my own mental health, I think I'll just avoid this game and it's media from now one. I don't really like spending my time unable to breathe. Anyways, sorry for the long rant, and I'm hoping the majority of people don't find me too much of a pussy for this take.

Who do you think is Arguably The Most Evil “Prime Asset” (Killer) in The Outlast Trials?

Note: While all of these people are downright vile, I’m still interested to see who you guys feel is the worst of the current 5 Prime Assets in game.

Right now, there’s:

Mother Gooseberry (Phylis Futterman) & “Doctor Futterman” (hand puppet) - The Mother

Leland Coyle - The Father

Franco Barbi - The Son

Otto & Arora Kress - The Grandparents

“Sister” Liliya Bogomolova - The Aunt

Cut "fuck you" voicelines?

I was watching a youtube video of all the reagent voicelines https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hNzk9YjCf0w (not really sure why lol) and SPECIFICALLY the Male 3 voice has some dialogue that no other reagents have. These voicelines are not in the game, as well as the currency ones and the empty rig ones, but I was wondering why is this the only reagent that has these "fuck off" voicelines? I think it would be awesome to tell franco to fuck off before tossing a brick into his face, or flipping off a reagent before stabbing them in invasion, there's so much that could be done with interactions like this.

How much of Outlast Trials was made using AI?

I recently found out that Generative AI was used and has been used in the making of Outlast Trials which makes me really sad and made me develop some uncertain/complicated feelings about the game. I’m extremely opposed to the use of generative AI inside of games, but besides that I like pretty much everything that this game has besides that one thing and before I would’ve even considered it probably one of my favourite games of all time. I also recognize that they have a lot of talented artists working on the game (atleast I hope so but I’ll go into that later)

I know that they put a disclaimer saying that they use it for most of the 2D assets in the trials like posters, paintings, and sleep accessories. But to me that disclaimer seemed like it was left extremely open-ended and made me worry about some other things like character voice lines, or just designs in general. Do we know for sure just how much of Outlast Trials was created using AI? Like Lore Documents? Character Designs? Voice Lines? Or anything to that nature? Has there been any concern about that sort of thing?

On one hand I absolutely love this game and everything about it, but on another I really don’t want to support the use of Generative AI cause it just leaves a bad taste in mouth. It just makes me worry about a lot of things in this game which is really unfortunate.
