A small request from a kiwi football fan.

Hey everyone - I know this is a big ask so I'll keep it short.

I'm Dom - you might know me from the Flying Kiwis or being in the stands at an AFC game.

I've spent the last couple of years trying to tell stories within football in NZ. I believe the best sport stories are the ones about the people, and at this years Men's World Cup there's an opportunity to tell New Zealand's football stories to the world.

I'm applying for DAZN48, where they are selecting one creator per nation to tell the story of the World Cup from a fan perspective. From the bottom of the world, I believe New Zealand has one of the most unique, yet incredible, stories at the competition.

But there's an issue, there's a minimum follower requirement, and I need 3,000 followers on Instagram (@domjohnson.co.nz) before Sunday. I know that's a big ask, but if you believe in what I'm doing, even a repost to someone who would be interested would mean a lot.

Thank you either way. Just a Kiwi trying to make some noise for NZ football.

Dom

Youth scene is looking bad

Heard some news coming out of today that Māngere u17 started a huge fight between both players and parents. With it already being on the news last season about youth teams having big fights like this it asks the question about something being done. Should have seen SAR youth teams every season and how they treat opponents

Grassroots Newsletter

Morning Team,

I'm a football coach in the grassroots game and I've seen so many posts in this subreddit about how the game doesn't get enough love or we aren't as excited about the beautiful game as we perhaps should be as a nation (considering it is our most played team sport). I consider myself a massive football activist for the sport in this country. This is my first post in this subreddit but I'm hoping to add some value to the space. I've started a weekly newsletter covering the local stories of grassroots heroes and those people that help keep the beautiful game alive in our backyard. There's some coaching insight involved as well (for those that are interested). I'd love it if people could give it a read and let me know what you reckon! Any feedback is always greatly appreciated, I'm just trying to do my bit for the game in NZ and I'd love your help. I've left a link at the bottom of this post for anyone who would like to check it out and if anyone has any cool stories that they think are worth highlighting - I'm all ears, from one footy fan to another.

Cheers team!

Scottish Premiership finale watch party in Auckland this Saturday

For anyone wanting to watch the conclusion to the most exciting title race in Europe, this Saturday night is the final match between the top 2 which will be a decider for the ages. Hearts are eyeing up a first non old firm title since Sir Alex Ferguson, and will go into the game with a win guaranteeing it.

The New Zealand Heart of Midlothian Supporters Association (real thing) have got a watch party organised at The Corner in Remuera. All neutrals or curious parties welcome. Celtic fans still allowed but I assume they'll have their own thing going somewhere else in the city.

Match is a late one, 11:30pm kickoff, but the kiwi Jambos will be there from at least 7 getting a head of steam and ready to convert any willing new supporters to the finest team north of the Tweed

HHGH see you there

TVNZ world cup steaming resolution

Anyone knows if TVNZ will stream the 2026 FIFA World Cup in 4K?
Or will it just be 1080p like current sports streams on TVNZ+?
