First of all I wanted to THANK YOU for this experience. I have grown so much and learned about myself throughout these meetups. When I moved here, I didn't know anyone and felt uninspired in my life. Now I have a fulfilling social life and too many interests, hobbies and friends to count. I am so grateful and honored to have grown this community with you. I feel like I belong in Nanaimo and that it has welcomed me with authenticity and kindness.
I've had some life changes come up and I'm excited to announce I will be too busy chasing my dreams to continue volunteering for this subreddit.
When Lauren and I started this group it was a small group of people and it has grown into something special. I would like to find some moderators who can share the love for the subreddit and keep it going after my departure. I would love to find different people from various walks of life who regularly use reddit, the duties include:
- monitoring posts for appropriate discussions, comments and users
- sharing resources when you see someone in need
- posting semi regularly about community events to keep things flowing and active
It's not a huge time commitment, I would usually do these tasks while I was already scrolling with my morning coffee. There is no daily requirement, but I would say maybe 10-15 minutes a week is a healthy expectation. If you're interested in this role, please contact me directly so we can discuss further. I would prefer to do a casual in person interview to confirm our values are aligned and that you will be able to participate in a way that makes new members comfortable.
My DREAM would be to find at least one woman, one man and a queer individual (of varying ages) to keep our representation broad and inclusive.
