Finally, the 14 day account age limit is over and I can actually post this. While I was waiting, I did some digging into recent marketing moves by Kodansha and Crunchyroll. I want to share some facts that point directly to an announcement this July.

Disclaimer: This is just my analysis based on public data. I'm not an insider, so I could be wrong, but the timing is very suspicious.

Here is the "Pre-Announcement" cycle they are running right now:

The "Humble Bundle" Blowout (Nov 2025): Kodansha put almost the entire Nagatoro collection (19 volumes) on a massive sale. Usually, giving away an entire series for cheap is a way to expand the reader base right before a major new project announcement

The Silent Blu-ray Drop (April 3, 2026): This is the biggest hint. Crunchyroll released a new "Complete Edition" Blu-ray for Season 1 just a month ago. Why spend money on new physical production for a 5-year-old season now? It feels like they are refreshing the brand to have it on shelves when S3 drops.

The 7 Million Milestone: The series ended on a massive high note. Moving from 4M to 7M copies sold means the demand is still there. Kodansha rarely leaves a successful IP like this without a proper animated conclusion.

Anime Expo & Kodansha House (July 2-5): Kodansha has been dead silent about Nagatoro on social media lately, focusing on other titles. This "information vacuum" often happens right before a big reveal at a major event like AX.

Some people say I'm 'overthinking,' but they forget that Kodansha is a business, not a charity. In Japan, the market is oversaturated. In the US, it’s much easier to compete and the profit margins are higher because fans are willing to pay 70€ for a Blu-ray that sells out in seconds. Opening a US office isn't just for show; it's to manage hits like Nagatoro where the demand is highest right now. If 7M sales and a massive AX residency aren't enough evidence for you, you're the one underthinking how global anime business works in 2026.

Again, I might be overthinking some of this, but looking at how the Blu-ray release and the Humble Bundle sale align with the upcoming Anime Expo, it's hard not to be optimistic.
