Fascism or anything authoritarian is a forever enemy to monarchism

I have noticed that this sub have some totalitarian sympathers and i just want to give some historical facts on why we monarchist must not associate with them.

bentio mussolini was a fascist and republican who used the Italian monarchy as a political force to destroy his enemies and mussolini hated the monarchy and wanted more power to himself so one day he can abolish the Italian monarchy, i even saw a story that mussolini tried to change the flag and pissed off many Italian monarchist. Thanks to mussolini and the fascist the Italian monarchy was abolished and it reputations was stained because of it association with mussolini and the his tugs.

Authoritarian leaders also don't like to share power with the monarchy and if you don't understand what I mean, dictators love absolute power and control and many of those dictators use the monarchy as nothing but a puppet and will never share power or even listen to them and want to control them until they are no longer useful. A example is Salazar who was a dictator of portugal and he wanted to restore the Portuguese monarchy as puppets but the current head didn't support him or his government and don't forget Salazar hates sharing power to others.

Another example is when Romania dictator in ww2 tried to overthrow the monarchy and the same in Norway and the Netherlands when fascist leaders almost abolish their monarchies.

Authoritarian leaders and figures don't like the monarchy because they are afraid one day they will be replaced or overthrown. Most dictators only want the monarchy to be nothing but

fascism, communism and authoritarianism are a forever enemy to monarchism. If anyone thinks that monarchism and fascism or authoritarianism can work together just look what happened to italy during the interwar period and ww2 and Greece during the cold war. Fascism is a totalitarian ideology.

I will forever hate mussolini and his gang for destroying the Italian monarchy reputation.

CMV: Monarchies and the entire concept of kings/queens in general is just heavy romanticized fascism and authoritarianism that only get looked at more favorably than autocratic dictatorships solely due to nostalgia and aesthetics.

Is it as fascist or authoritarian as say INGSOC from 1984? No, hell no. Most monarchies don't even come close to that.

But what it is — undeniably so — is authoritarian. All power resting in the hands of 1 dude and it gets passed down through the lineage... yeah that is literally just what we'd call a modern day autocratic dictator.

And what sucks is that people nowadays disagree with me when I say this: Monarchism in general is just dictatorships with a fancy bowtie and flowers.

You like it cause you like the aesthetics of knights on horseback, because of princesses in castles, or because its told to you through a history book, and its featured in the setting of practically every single fantasy fiction to exist.

And I'm inclined to agree, monarchism does look cool. It sounds and looks cool. Its always gonna be a staple of fantasy fiction to have kings and queens and I think we should keep it. But to disagree that it wasn't some sort of authoritarian regime that silenced dissent and used artificial myths of being "ordained by God" or whatever is to ignore the truth. It's still an autocratic dictatorship. The only difference is that the dictator wears robes and commands knights and shit, instead of wearing a military vest and commanding their tanks to blow up a rebel base.

New polling shows that the Andrew scandal has had no effect on support for the Royal Family. Even 50% of British teenagers (18-24) still identify as monarchists.

All Generations of Scandinavian Consorts Since Norway’s Independence in 1905

- Generation 1 (part 1) - Queen Alexandrine of Denmark, Queen Maud of Norway, Crown Princess Margareta of Sweden (died before she could become queen but is the grandmother of King Carl XVI Gustaf)

- Generation 1 (part 2) - Queen Alexandrine of Denmark, Queen Maud of Norway, Queen Louise of Sweden

- Generation 2 - Queen Ingrid of Denmark, Crown Princess Märtha of Norway (died before she could become queen but is the mother of King Harald V), Princess Sibylla, Duchess of Västerbotten (husband died before he could become king but she is the mother of King Carl XVI Gustaf)

- Generation 3 - Prince Henrik of Denmark (Prince Consort Henrik from 2005-2016), Queen Sonja of Norway, Queen Silvia of Sweden

- Generation 4 - Queen Mary of Denmark, Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway, Prince Daniel, Duke of Västergötland

In generation 5 there will finally be two male consorts and one female, I am sure there will be discussion about why Christian’s wife should be queen while Ingrid and Estelle’s husbands are princes.

Constitutional Monarchists: Separation of Powers

I was a bit inspired by a couple of discussions lately but I was curious what many of you have to say about your opinions on this concept of a separation of powers, constituent with "checks and balances". I'm not really a liberal at all except somewhat so economically, but I have thought about how the early executive in the U.S. was a little less involved politically. With how many people are uncomfortable with monarchs with control over the entire government, I wonder if especially from the European perspective it'd be a welcome notion of a head of state that does have an active role but as Commander-in-Chief and a sort of military/foreign diplomat role while keeping something like a legislature and something like a judiciary separated from the monarch. Thoughts? Any of your own ideas? All welcome to shoot.

Prince Philip as Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME)

This is a nice image of HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, as Colonel-in-Chief of The Corps of Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) in 1981. He was Colonel-in-Chief from 1963 until his death in 2021 and was noted for his active interest in the Corps throughout that time.

Queen Elizabeth II :A powerful Monarch

In Honor of her Majesty's 100th Birthday I decided to write and update this old post showing how Queen Elizabeth wasn't just a figurehead but an active force of good in the world .

The first thing is people would commonly write to her with goverment issues and she would forward this to the goverment and get things done.

This is how she helped get a Gurkha get health treatment the goverment was denying .

https://www.google.com/books/edition/A_Year_with_the_Queen/u00YnCFWjzkC?q=&gbpv=1&bsq=Bluey#f=false

and helped my man Snoop Dog into the UK

https://www.billboard.com/music/music-news/snoop-dogg-queen-elizabeth-stopped-uk-kick-out-1235036271/

of a similar note is how she helped an MP be allowed to run for his party's nomination.Said Mp would be defense minister during the Ukraine War so even non tories should be glad he got in.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/theroyalfamily/9134749/Conservative-MP-How-the-Queen-secured-my-selection-for-the-party.html

Another Thing is she had weekly meeting with her British Prime Ministers and contact with the rest .She would get goverment briefings and secrets and the first draft of intelligence.

https://press.georgetown.edu/Book/Crown-Cloak-and-Dagger

John Major noted she give good advice

''"She knows a great deal about it and her questions are often very, very pertinent. It was always extremely useful, because it was a completely external view from someone who knew politics."'

https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-61672316

As did Justin Trudeau who said of this contact ''I made the instant decision that I could trust her entirely and talk to her about the things that were on my mind in a way that would be unbelievably helpful to me and invariably, she is: in her thoughtfulness, in her wisdom, in her perspective''

D. Michael Jackson, and Christopher McCreery. A Resilient Crown : Canada’s Monarchy at the Platinum Jubilee. Dundurn Press, 2022.

A lot of PM have said so.I am using these two as a general example .one brit one realm of different political ideologies

It is in this role that she lobbied against a helicopter system that wasn't doing well in Iraq

https://www.google.com/books/edition/A_Year_with_the_Queen/u00YnCFWjzkC?hl=en&gbpv=1&bsq=her%20choppers

She also helped write the Australian Constitution .To be clear the wording regarding the powers of the states were written in deference to her wishes. She wanted more changes but the goverment told her this was all they could do. Im not arguing she was absolute...but still HELPED WRITE THE AUSTRALIAN CONSTITUTION

https://www.researchgate.net/publication/357123191_The_Exercise_of_Soft_Power_by_Female_Monarchs_in_the_United_Kingdom [Page 43]

A lot of modern criticism of the queen is her silence on racial matters well...

she Hired the first ever Black person to work at the palace

https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/44023293

ok so?

she lobbied against apartheid and Rhodesia and bullied the commonwealth into staying together against these two

https://www.commonwealthroundtable.co.uk/commonwealth/opinion-the-queen-and-her-stand-against-racism-in-the-commonwealth/ and

Hardman, R. (2020). Queen of the world. Pegasus Books. why i didn't link a page? because thats the whole first half of the book

As well when New Zealand's goverment was questioning maori land rights in the south island the Queen through her GG stated that the treaty applied to the south island as well which caused a back down from the government which is after all ''Her Majesty's Government''

https://www.odt.co.nz/opinion/queen-and-maori-relationship-based-mutual-respect

When there was a coup against the crown in fiji the GG worked out a deal with there Monarchy would remain if the Queen agreed to add supremacist policies to the Constitution. She decided to single handley abolish the Monarchy in Fiji rather then preserve it by racially discriminatory measures

You might have noticed a lot of those are about the Constitution.Well in Parliamentary systems it is the Monarch's role to defend and preserve the constitution to cite a famous non monarchical system .In this capacity She

Warned boris not to call a dissolution during the vote of no confidence in him https://archive.is/2026.04.09-075406/https://www.telegraph.co.uk/books/non-fiction/hugo-vickers-robert-hardman-review-queen-biographies/

and was ready to fire him if necessary

https://inews.co.uk/news/uk/queen-sought-advice-sacking-prime-minister-344801

She refused to remove a GG during a constitutional crisis in tuvalu which allowed the gg to remove the PM and install the democratic elected successors .

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuvaluan_constitutional_crisis

And If the prime minister orders a questionable nuclear strike the Military would check with the Monarch

news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/7758314.stm

Even her Ceremonial duties mattered according to the Charities Aid Foundation in 2012, Queen Elizabeth helped raise more than US$1.66 billion (S$2.32 billion) for charities she was a patron of.

on a final a very small note did no grant the title ''Royal'' to a music competition not considered worthy ... and kept her head on the stamps!

Why did Hungary and Romania not restore its monarchies after 1989?

Hungary still have the crown of St. Stephen as a symbol of their country, politicians now there have to swear loyalty to the crown, even oficially the name of Hungary is not "Republic of Hungary" only "Hungary". The dame thing with Romania when the last king was too popular in their country. In both countries republicanisn was imposed by Soviets after WW2 due it was under the soviet captured nazi territories (I will not say liberated).

So, why both countries after they recover its freedom, they don't restored its monarchies.
