This album feels like Evangelion without being Evangelion
I don’t know if anyone else here is into more obscure jazz/bossa stuff, but I recently listened to the album You Can’t Save This In The Mix by Helle Hansen Group and it gave me surprisingly strong Evangelion vibes.
It’s not that it sounds like the OST directly, but more the feeling, those smooth, slightly melancholic jazzy and bossa nova elements that show up throughout Evangelion. Especially the calmer, reflective moments in the series.
Also, the vocalist Helle Hansen really reminded me of the vibe of “Fly Me to the Moon” from the ending themes. There’s something about her tone and delivery that hits a similar emotional space.
Curious if anyone else hears that connection, or if you’ve got other non-OST music that gives you Evangelion energy?
