If Anna and Artyom had a child after exodus, what would that look like for them in the state of things?

How would that realistically work out for them? And how would it be raising a child in a world like that?

(Un)popular Opinion: Metro Exodus is Bad

Having loved the first two Metro games and having played them 10+ times each, it is with great disappointment that I say this, but Metro Exodus is a terrible game.

The plot is hollow. The reasons for them keeping everyone in the dark about being able to communicate with the outside world (for like 20 years) are ridiculous. Why not task Artyom and a small veteran crew to explore parts of the surface. They could have divided Exodus into two or three separate games.

They didn't explore the different locations we came across in great detail. The game lacks that iconic Metro atmosphere and ambience. The surface feels dull with a few monsters scattered here and there.

I didn't like the addition of the zombies that you come across the Urals regions mainly. I wish it was some sort of new creepy mutant creature. Speaking of mutants, why does the flying beast, Demon, look more like a giant bat now??!

Many small things I don't like; such as the day night cycle - I believe that this takes away from the Metro atmosophere that we've all come to know and love. A much better way to do this would have been the design the game to be more linear and as you progress, the day turns to night or vice versa.

There is no reason to add a meta where the gun gets dirty; what is the point of this? Completely pointless. The gun gets dirty waaaay too fast. I don't want to have to worry about these pointless things that take away from the immersion. Where the gas mask meta added to the urgency of the first two Metro games, the gun getting dirty takes away from it.

There's waaay too much dialogue.

The crew lacks a clear plan. The reason for Artyom and his crew to venture all the way to Novasibriski is ridiculous. Also, there are zero people at the station. Only a child survives? The place doesn't even have NPCs scattered all over the place like you find in the Moscow Metro.

I feel like, unlike the first two games, almost everyone you come across is trying to kill you, and their reasons for doing so are really petty/bad. Like at the summer camp place, did no one think, gee, these guys might not be trying to harm us, they're outsiders, not those creepy bandits.

Also, every single place we come across feels empty and hollow, missing NPCs/life unlike the first two Metro games.

I did like Sams Story, it was a good DLC but I didn't like the open world nature of it.

I had this thought in my mind and I have to share it. What would Artyom or any other characters in both games and novels would think of Night City from Cyberpunk 2077 if they somehow get teleported there? What are your guys thoughts?

I really want to experience this game

I’ve tried playing this game multiple times, first on my PS4, and later on my PC. Every time, I ended up giving up within the first two hours, mainly because of the sheer number of controls. It felt like I had to study and memorize them all, and during stressful moments I would panic and struggle to find the right buttons or keys to press. This happened to me on both PlayStation and PC. And as I play multiple games, I can't put that much effort into learning key binding of one game. So I wanted to ask if there’s any way I can get around this issue, because I really want to experience this beautiful game.

6 hours is kinda long if you think about it

6 Hours

You could say is a long period of time within a day. You could use that time to read a book, listen music, or maybe... Maybe play sam's story.

And you go to prepare dinner and close the game... And maybe, JUST MAYBE, a text says "data corrupted, overwrite data?" And that text usually appears but never does something bad, so why not?

Jajajaja

And then, there you are, instead of fighting the batwing for a third time, you are in Moscu, with Artyom. Your savegame? GONE. Your incredible equipment? GONE...

At least I achieved the achievement of the cinema, pretty funny

Disclaimer, I have only played the first 2 hours, so maybe I am completely off and it's just the beginning

The game story is about post apocalyptic world, everything about is serious, grim and sad

But then, the dialogue instead of matching the tone, sounds like something taken out of kid's cartoon

Exposition shoved inside too hard "....your wife, my daughter?!", the main character knows who is his wife and father in law, couldn't you find a better way to convey it to the player?

His buddies give the vibe of children

He survives a bullet wound like nothing ever happened (there is no avoiding that gameplay-wise, but story wise, if the main character got shot and then 3 minutes later it can walk like nothing happened, it kinda kills it)

Why is the commander of the station assigning play and drinking time to lowly soldiers, and those lowly soldiers who were just on guard duty now suddenly can leave their post to have a drinking session with their conveniently found injured buddy?

And the whole dialogue is just childish all around, it completely killed any desire for me to follow the story (which I am sure is great, I heard only good things about it)

I've seen reddit posts saying it's awful most of the time but at the same time I'm a fallout fan and cyberpunk fan and steam reviews say it's a masterpiece I honestly don't know if it worth it if there's good building mechanics for the character and RPG elements I'm in

Man, the game is fun, reminds me of Wolfenstein type game, but these damn cut scenes are so long and boring and you cant skip them..

Okay, so I know this post ain't exactly about the game but stay with me.

I'm planning on doing a trip to go to Moscow and travel to lake bikal. (For obvious reasons, not right now.)

The initial plan is to travel to Moscow and then hit every mission location from metro exodus. Whether or not they're real places. We get a good enough look at the map during the loading screens to overlay that onto a real map and hit up those spots. So Moscow, Volga, yamantau, Caspian, Taiga, Novosibirsk and finally Lake Bikal.

I guess my question is; has anyone done this before? Would anyone consider doing this? And why did you/would you do it?

I just enjoy traveling and seeing new things. Most of my travels have been because of video games and I remember thinking back when exodus came out, that I'd like to do this trip.

As stated before, it's clearly not a great time to do this kinda trip and I would advise anyone against this at this current time due to the conflict.

(I only tagged this as a spoiler due to the fact that all the missions locations are mentioned. I loved playing the game blind for the first time and I'd hate to ruin it for someone else :) )

I REALLY dont want to have to a full playthrough after my last one where I got the good ending, so does anyone know what chapter is the latest one I can start and follow a negative moral guide to get the achievement?

I just started playing Metro Exodus and I’m completely hooked.

I’ve made it to the Caspian area, but I’ve run into a problem with one of the main mission markers. There’s an “X” on the map that I can’t access. I’m pretty sure it’s pointing to the underground spider section, which I’ve already completed and where I picked up the map. Despite that, the marker is still there, and I can’t re-enter the area.

I’ve cleared all the other question mark locations, so now I’m basically stuck.

I’ve checked a few YouTube walkthroughs but still can’t tell if I’m missing something or if this is just a bug.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

I am having a hard time using night-vision during night time, when I use it everywhere is too bright to see.

If I lower the gamma, then the main menu brightness becomes weird.

Here are the screenshots: https://imgur.com/a/2oPu6JF

Is this normal? If it's not, then what's the fix for this issue?

Edit: this is for Metro Exodus EE

What's everyone's favorite special weapon like the air gun, rail gun variant, or crossbow. I'm curious what people choose myself have taken a liking to the crossbow since you can conserve ammo more by picking it up if able.

What a great game! I never played the other metros but I like how its not your typical horror game, where you are just in dark corners and zombies jump at you. Although there was still a good amount of intensity and just enough jump scenes to make it interesting.

The times from the horror side that really stood out was when you were in the air vent and the spiders kept attacking from both sides. My flashlight was going back and forth and felt like I was there. The humanimals were intense too as they would swarm. I loved using the explosive ammo on both of these species because they made me so angry.

But what I like is how they incorporated aspects from other genres. Its not strictly a horror or shooter (i like cod type games but they all are kind of the same after a while). Whereas an entire stealth game such as rainbow 6 was too boring this one brings in aspects from all over to where your game is not repetitive.

The different sceneries were nice too. I don't think I would have cared for the prior 2 games if it was all just inside a metro, plus I don't believe it would be enjoyable to be always on scared nervous edge

I hope this trend can continue to other games. The MMOs have changed, they dont all look so cartoon/ final fantasy types, i wonder if even other ideas could even go into these type of games. I don't have the creative mind I use to as a child but I can try to come up with something.

But I liked the openness as it wasn't too much to where the side quest felt like stale afterthought quest and usually involved knew themes such as those gargoyles or when stealing for saul. I think that part could have even been better if you got injured with the enemy and suddenly there was a swarm coming and you all had to suddenly work together to get out. Maybe even make the side quest into much more.

The scenery was nice. One of the disadvantages of a lot of apocalypse games is the lack of scenery, which makes sense due to the grim devastation. Whereas fallout might be more accurate in what multiple nuclear bombs would do to the area, it just looks so bland and there isnt any change.

The mutant animals were not too scary, excluding the humanimals and helped for it to not be too overwhelming with disturbing horror. The story line was fluid.

I really wanted to play Sam's Story dlc but amazon for some reason didn't have that included. I thought he seemed like an interesting character to dive into being an American stuck in enemy territory.

Good job though to the 4a team.

**Metro: Ashes of the Steppe**

People used to say the world ended in flames. My father thought otherwise—that it didn’t end at all, that it had simply changed.

I was born under an open sky in the settlement of Sparta, on the shores of Lake Baikal. It was founded by my father, Artyom Chyornij, and the others of the Spartan Order who ventured with him across the scorched land once called Russia, leaving behind the tunnels of the metro beneath the old city of Moscow.

Sparta stands where nothing should grow. Yet we built something here—something better. We’ve come a long way in this journey, from a handful of survivors searching for a better home, fuelled by nothing but hope, to a thriving community of hundreds.

But in recent days, things haven’t been so promising. A couple of our outposts, along with some of the farmland, have been reduced to nothing but ash. We still haven’t discovered the source of these attacks.

The first outpost burned in silence.

No alarms. No—

“Hey! Quit scribbling in that journal of yours. Patrol’s back, and there’s a problem!”

His mother, Anna, exclaimed, interrupting Svyatoslav as he wrote in his ledger. His heart dropped—he already knew what was coming.

“Another outpost has been hit. Four dead. Four good soldiers dead, boy—do you hear me? So get off your damn ass and get out here!” Anna cried before storming out of the room in a hurry.

Without hesitation, he jumped up from his chair, grabbing his battle-worn revolver—passed down to him by his father—and his trusty brown leather trench coat, which had seen better days.

The door slammed as Svyatoslav stepped out into the cold. The wind was harsh, carrying with it the faint smell of smoke. Not from Sparta itself—but close enough that it mattered.

His boots sank into the mud beneath him as he looked up to see Anna and a broad-shouldered figure slightly taller than him. Beside them was a young boy, around his age, perhaps a little younger.

Before Svyatoslav could ask anything, the boy—sitting on an old, tattered supply crate, arms folded as he rocked back and forth trying to keep warm—spoke up.

“They came from nowhere… there were so many… we didn’t even—” he blurted, his words stumbling over each other, before Svyatoslav cut him off.

“Hey, hey, calm down. You’re safe now. Just take your time and start from the beginning, friend,” he said, placing a reassuring hand on the boy’s shoulder.

“Safe? Supreme Regent, with all due respect, sir, you don’t understand—you weren’t—” He stopped, catching his breath and gathering his thoughts. “It was quiet. Almost too quiet.”

Anna crossed her arms. “Outposts are always quiet.”

He shook his head quickly. “No… not like that. No wind. No animals. Even the dogs…” His voice caught. “They wouldn’t move. Just… staring out into the dark.”

Svyatoslav leaned in slightly, the boy’s words catching his interest. “When did it happen?”

“Just before dawn. We were getting ready to head home—only fifteen, maybe twenty minutes left in our shift. And that’s when we heard it… tens of hooves, galloping against the ground, almost shaking it.”

“They were on horseback?”

The stranger’s jaw hung slightly open. Svyatoslav noticed, studying the man’s expression. He knew something about these attackers.

“Yes… or, well, I think so. It was so dark, I couldn’t see clearly. It all happened so fast—it’s as if it never happened. By the time we realised what was going on, they had already begun to rain bullets upon us. Not just any bullets… incendiary rounds. They set the whole perimeter ablaze.”

The boy broke down in tears before he could finish.

“Please… excuse me, Supreme Regent,” he muttered, before leaving them.

Just as Svyatoslav was about to follow, desperate to uncover every detail he could, his mother grabbed his arm firmly, stopping him in place.

“Let the boy rest. He’s had enough for one night, don’t you think?”

He nodded, then turned his attention to the stranger—the one who had been listening all along, who clearly knew more than he let on.

“And you are?”

A pause.

“Speak clearly.”
