Bien établie, vintage-forward MAXI SKIRT — custom tailored, upcycled from two generations of Levi's greatness at the Levi's store in downtown Portland — red tab, circa 1970s up front, early '80s back pocket panel behind, because history deserves representation on both sides. The tailor is inventive, and his craftsmanship is top tier: double waistband up front because she simply has more to say from that angle, single in the back for a clean exit. Triangle inset where her legs used to be now tells a story in dark and medium blues, crowned by a watermelon honey bee brooch presiding over the whole arrangement. If you have Levi's gathering dust with a second life in them, bring your ideas to the man and watch him bring them to the world. He does not disappoint.

Traveling with a bona fide Matisse tee — navy, made in France, his name stitched in cream floss in a font too frilly to be anything but intentional. A cotton voile scarf in a square knot at the throat, printed and embroidered with every French thing and place worth remembering, is along for the trip and will not be removing itself.
A red hand-knit Skif International sweater — 2006, retired, named — provides warmth and considerable Hollywood provenance. Anne, the founder, built this woman-owned slow fashion house stitch by stitch to feed her children and ended up dressing The Matrix — one of the biggest blockbusters to ever hit the silver screen. The rest, as they say, is cinema. Drop by and tell her TK sent you.
A red leather cuff, acquired from a street vendor in Évian in the summer of 2014, encircles the wrist and has no regrets.
Hair adorned with a navy silk charmeuse headband — pouf peony silhouette — fashioned circa 2006, still blooming. Blue glass globe earrings on the lobes: an early tribute to Earth Day, a late tribute to this earth.
Interests include: Franco-American diplomacy, the structural integrity of inseam triangles, and bees on fruit.
