I got myself into trouble trying to add mantis to my backyard

I got a few egg cases off Amazon. I think they're Chinese. The instructions said to set them out at room temperature 4-6 weeks before the last frost.

well they just have been sitting out in the Amazon warehouse because not even a week later I have like a thousand babies. I know it's too cold for them right now but I tried to let them out with the hope a few would survive.

well they're pretty smart and only a few of them would leave. the rest just stayed in the enclosure until I felt bad and brought them back in.

I'm in a shitty situation. I took a really big plastic tote and made them a bigger enclosure. I've been feeding them fruit flies and they started molting a day after they hatched.

do you guys think they can survive together for a month with minimal cannibalization if I keep them really well fed? there are way too many of them to put them in separate enclosures.

what is the ethical thing to do here?

My little Meryl is growing up!

brought it home after it's first molt, purchased two and the other one unfortunately passed before we made it home.

this one has been thriving though!

got through a few easy peasy molts and eats like a champ 💚

Orchid Mantis Enclosure

Any tips on making my enclosure better before I get my orchid mantis? Substrate is coco soil and sphagnum moss and the lid doesn’t have any air holes is that a problem? Also the mesh is tool fabric I glued on top!
