Watching the episode now and just have to say the child they cast to play Eunice as a young girl is amazing. This little girl nailed this role. That’s all!

Seeing Mama tonight in Newton, NC!

I'm beyond excited! To say this is a dream come true would just be a gross understatement. I'm front row center with meet & greet.

Am I going to cry?

Probably. 🤣

I'd love to hear your experience meeting Vicki, or any of the rest of the cast!

It is a pretty entertaining episode. I like the freeze-dried cat joke, I like the treasure trunk subplot, I even like Thelma trying to make herself a new dress. Though I feel like the only bad thing this episode does is how it reinforces the idea that black cats are inherently evil and vicious. Iola had a cat named Midnight with a very bad reputation within the neighborhood of being mean and he was a black cat. I can confirm that not all black cats are like that because mine (Also named Midnight.) is very sweet and easygoing. He doesn't like people because he's never agressive with them, he's just shy and the timid around people who aren't in our immediate family and will hide whenever we have visitors.

I’m in Texas and love me a good colloquial pronunciation or expression, “might could” being on of my favorites.

So, I’ve noticed all of the characters say “at the,” as in “at the mall” like this- “at tuh mall”… as in “I bought them at tuh mall.” But like one word, without any pause between the syllables.

I may not be explaining this clearly, but if anyone can decipher what I’m saying - what geographical region is this pronunciation from?

Random Repeated Elements

I’ve been watching the show from start to finish for months. It’s my current dopamine fix. So, I’ve been able to notice a lot of repeated elements - like story lines or character details.

One that immediately comes to mind is how in the 1st version if the show Buzz joined debate & had the topic of whether the electoral college should exist. Vint said something to the effect of “then how would we have electricians?” Buzz said something that made it clear he knew his dad was lost, but didn’t call him out on it.

Then, in the 2nd version Bubba joined debate (for the girl with the “biggest brains in school”) & had the same topic. Vint made same comment & Bubba agreed.

What are some of these repeated examples you’ve noticed?

Thelma went too far in "Take my mama please"

Usually the others deserve what's coming to them but I wouldn't say any of them deserved Thelma throwing them all under the bus like that. She shared personal and humiliating things about Vinton, Naomi, Bubba, and Iola in front of everybody in the Bigger Jigger even though they didn't do anything to her in this episode. All they did was support her and try to help her become a comedian the best they could. Thelma doesn't even apologize to them for what she did, she was even a little smug about it. I'm totally on the the rest of the group's side on this one.

Just watched the Mama Mania episode (Season 4, Ep 16). I feel like I never noticed the odd and seemingly unnecessary shot of the back of “Mama” standing in front of the TV before she turns it off. Why do you think they used this stand in for this shot at all?

What do you think happened to Bubba after the show ended? I'm particularly curious if he went to Florida after college. But do you think he went on and got a bachelor's degree (or higher) or anything else.

A problem with Mama's cream-colored Herbert Hoover having it's way with Iola's pink Dainty Bess.

Iola's flower would not be a mix of pink and white. Her rose's offspring would have this. The flower on the original plant would not change.
